Once our BMer fake claimed Survivor D1, our Disg mimic a D1 Psy claim to disguise our BMer, so they were "confirmed" by the Invest N1. That Disg really was the MVP that game, because Coven and NK started whispering to the "confirmed Surv" a.k.a. our BMer later in the game, so all mafia knew their role.

I once was a solo vamp in all any, there were only 2 townies in the entire game(they died n1), everyone else was evil, everyone i tried to bite had defense and at night 5 i attacked a quiet guy hoping he was town and guess what he was vh. Sometimes u cant win with vamps

I remember I had one game where I was framer and I managed to somehow make an investigator completely useless. It was classic mode, which helps, but night 1 they check the jester, who successfully gets lynched, night 2 they check the doctor, who I had framed night 1, they get lynched, night 3 they check the medium who i framed that night and had no dead chat, they get lynched, then night 4 they check ME and get lynched because maf had majority. They literally only got Framer/Vamp/Jest results all game and it was hilarious

Medium seems like they're a bit more of a pain, being able to sometimes ruin a Medusa or Serial Killer's day as well. Plus, the ability to get results from people who were killed can be useful. However, they also get that seance ability when dead so they can still deliver dangerous information if they've been killed... so killing them doesn't necessarily help. It's just kind of like: "Okay then, there is a medium. Kind of sucks, but... killing them isn't necessarily productive anyway?"

Medusa, Ambusher, SK, dead evils that forget a Medium that died early hasn't seanced... ya, it may not be very powerful, but it belongs higher by the sheer number of counters it does. Not to mention they confirm each other and out fake Meds.

It’s interesting that we have such different views on the Jester role. Jester is imo one of the most impactful roles in the game; just like you were saying the threat of a jester is in some ways more impactful than the jester itself, if jester didn’t exist in TOS at all the way the game would be played would be way different. It’s for sure an A or maybe even S tier role to me. If you ever spend a decent amount of time in a role list that confirmed doesn’t have a jester people play so much more aggressively with voting. The role isn’t terrifying by itself but it’s basically the only role that can change the outcome of a game it’s not even in

I'd say the sheer fear factor of Arsonist can also affect games they're not in, especially if an evil claims someone might be arso to get town off their back. I definitely agree that Jester has the absolute most impact without being in games, since there's always that chance that the really bad player is actually an "obvious jest"

I mean, he does say that he's rating roles based on their perceived "scariness to play against" in CAA, where there's always the chance for a Jester. people in set role lists will of course treat jesters differently than players in CAA

So at 9:20 Pipe is saying disg needs a rework a second time? At least the current disg is better then it was originally. My idea: For a simple fix (Similar to disg now)you can disguise anyone as anyone. Example: I can now disguise 2 townies. Idea 2: Instead disg can alter the visits and results of your maf and mabye other players as a different role. That might be too op though.

Or disguiser can disguise any normal town role once, ie. no mayor, jailor, or trans, get to use their ability every other day, and can kill for the days they're not disguised. Of course, if they lose the ability for one day, for example, building a trap, they can't trap someone on the third day.

I feel like lookout is significantly better than sheriff and invest. It seems that way at least for me. I feel lookout is much more consistent every game you are bound to have at least some valuable info. You also function as a sudo tp in the early game in that you watching a target makes evils avoid killing them. Also it's pretty easy to confirm yourself as town and start a voting block as lo. Could be wrong.

I honestly don't like lookout compared to tracker. Tracker you always get info but being lookout you don't guarantee info and many games have you stuck as an extension of town protective instead of being your own ti role

The worst part about Medium is the fact most people leave the game and you are basically just a free kill or a vote.

41:00 maybe vamps can go a bit higher, they can be completely "silent" for most of the game, building up majority converting while everyone else is killing each other not knowing at all there is vamps and sneak the win. not common, but still a strong thing to have on their side. and if late game vamps kill that's gonna put everyone on high alert, especially if the vamps starts killing townies

It's extremely hard for a vamp to sneak a win, as they're easily found out. If they're in a majority town game, you get lynched if you don't have a confirmed role, and in a majority evil game, you're completely useless since you can only attack Once every 2 days. Most townies get sus if a psy or spy all of a sudden have bad results, or if mayor, being able to whisper to them. All it takes is for you to attack one evil for a kill, and your sneakiness is gone since most can calculate how many people you're able to convert. Even if you have 2 or 3 vamps at start, you'll still get found if one of you get killed, not to mentioned an entire role called vh dedicated to eradicating you. You don't have protection and your attacks are normal, with easy to predict patterns. And I've had instances where some townie got pissed for getting converted and outs you in whispers.

I think surv and jest are some of the most important roles because they give possibilities that otherwise wouldn’t exist, their existence is crucial to the game as well as especially jester being one of the most fun to play.

Current Classic All Any dissagrees with amne's placing. Rn there are so many people who want them dead, at least in my games. It is actually mostly evils. I, personally, dissagree with the idea of going for gf before sk. There are two major reasons for this. 1. If you kill GF, Mafioso becomes new GF or RM becomes Mafioso. You might not know who they are, so that means another killing role stays in the game. While that may be one maf down, maf still kill. On the other hand, removing SK means one killer IS removed from the game. 2. GF can be repeated rbed or jailed, essentially making itself AND Mafioso useless. Sk kills both and while that may out them, there is still plenty of chance it will not. Also, Ret is both my favorite role, and one that annoys me. I love the fact that it can use multiple roles. It can be TI, TP, TS, or TK at a time when you need them most, but it gets to show it's cool side very little thanks to the sheer amount of counters it has.

I believe so; from what I remember Invincible Defense > Unstoppable Attacks. It's the same reason why fully-powered jugg can't kill pest either.

Pest would survive. Pest can ONLY die via lynch, it’ll survive hex bomb, arso ignite, jester guilty or jailor execution

I agree with this list, expect I would say Juggernaut is A tier because late game they gain an unstoppable attack and can break through all TPs and cannot be killed by a BG or Trapper with the final power-up. Also they can kill someone that is jailed. However they still rely on having other evils around so the escort and jailor can’t stop them from killing.

In a game I played yesterday, I was LO in a “gods” themed game. I was Persephone and kept watching the Hades of the game when there wasn’t anyone more important to watch. Hades ended up being maf, but I witnessed a vampire bite and kill him. So I got the Vamp lynched and immediately got bit the next night. And then the night after that I got killed by the maf. still won, despite taking out one of my soon-to-be teammates.

2 thinks I disagree with- I think vamps should be S+, because everyone’s outlook on the game completely changes when they’re present. Second, kind of a hot take, I think surv should be A tier because simply having them as a role in the game gives people free claim space, also you have them literally doing whatever they want all game (acting like a jest, switching sides, not voting…)

I had an idea for a disguiser rework, something like a mafia sided coven leader but they don’t negate the other person’s action, the first target is the role the disguiser becomes for the night, and the second is the target of the role, something like first target is doctor and the second target is mafia and you heal your mafia member because you’re copying doctor, a downside to this would be your ability to negatively affect your side through the wrong uses such as healing a target the mafia intended to kill or trying to use a doctor claim to save your mafia and they were actually a serial killer

more like a 'mimic' then, as disguise is more associated with deception. Idk if it would really fit within the mafia, as it's quite unrealistic even theoretically - what human can turn into any role for a night, unlike all of the other mafia roles.

Hypnotist isn't that bad Pipe. I had a team of 1 mafioso and 3 hypnotists and we were able to completely fool town by faking one of us as a transportor claim and confirming then lol

Hypnotist is bad because it doesn't change the game, if just is a fake claim role. But it doesn't even fake claim well often. Bmer, consig, and consort can allow for fake claims but also give information or change the game in favor of maf when there's other factions at play. Hypno won't help you do much but fake claim and even then it fails at that. It's not useless. No role in the game is useless, not even surv. It's just super weak

I have to extremely disagree with Bodyguard's rating. 1. Bodyguard is essential for the Jailor Meta otherwise Jailor will be abused by consorts and witches otherwise, the BG threat needs to be there or evils can just reign free over the jailor at night. 2. Doctor is not better than BG for the sole reason that BG takes an evil out with them which drastically changes the course of the game from being a tense and close match to a calm breeze in the wind for town. 3. Bodyguard protects Jailor when he is trying to exe or jailing mayor, unlike doctor that does nothing. Overall BG no diffs Doctor since its just a better version.

I never played ToS1, and this video really just illustrates how terrible Spy was for the balance of that game. It may be a bit lame now, but at least it doesn't absolutely hard counter half the Coven roles like it did with Mafia in the first game.

I would put transporter lower. Yes its really impactfull but if you're town, then there are times u hate it that u have a transporter. How many times i have seen how a mayor or jailor gets killed thanks to a transporter. Mayor has a bg on him and transporter transes mayor with the town thats getting attacked.

Necromancer is far stronger than stated, there are very few roles which wouldn't be useful, as it can use both support on fellows and use killing. Only a few counters. Just an observation. 'A' potential, definately a stronger coven role. - Stronger than most 'B' claims.

The main problem with jester is that if you are playing with competent players, most of the time the confirmed town (jailor, mayor, crus, vig, vet) who is leading will say all guilty only I inno and that basically removes the jester's alive influence. Same with jailor preventing outlandish claims and actions.

Previous disguiser was better. Died and fulfilled it's purpose in confusing town if they got the role/will right. Also even if some town did say, "Ah disguiser", some would forget later on and think maf maj. New one only works when there's a TI on the disguised person. What mafia really needs is the ability to disguise a kill. That would be more chaotic and would give the forger a buff too. Spy would still be a hard counter.

i always get random lynched as arso and if i make it past day 3 somehow then everyone i doused will have been killed the same night i doused them and the arso's i have played against always get outed as soon as the ignite, this is how every arso game i have had so far has been like since i started playing Town of Salem so i dont see arso as being that strong.

Wiki says Hex Master will trigger traps but not die from them. Why??? - Astral says they will *NOT* trigger any "upon-visit" effects, so that's not what the Wiki means (unless Wiki is wrong) - Trap page just says it will deal a _powerful attack_ upon whoever triggers it - Hex master has _no defense._ So, how can a Hex Master trigger a trap but not die from it?!? Nothing of this makes sense, and some of this "info" *HAS* to be wrong. Which one is it? Does it mean if they are astral? In that case, astral DOES trigger "upon-visit". Does it mean they WILL die? In that case, it should not say they trigger it but don't die. Does it mean Hex Master _does_ have immunity? In that case it should not say they have "no defense".

Hex Master is only astral when they have the book - otherwise they visit. However, without the book they also don’t attack, they only hex, so it’s like if an invest visited the trapped person. Trap only attacks when the target is actually attacked.

Is winning as nk still hard in this game haven't played in a while. Because while they are dangerous don't Neutral killings basically always lose. The only time i ever won as arso in ranked game i got the disco inferno achievement which is what like 5 kills on ignite rare occurrence. Fun video tho.
