I like seeing how tow truck designs vary around the world. No truck is best for every situation, but each has its strengths and weaknesses. Some common taters seem to be fond of the trucks used in GTOger vids, but those require wider streets than are found in many parts of the world. They would be virtually useless in most of Europe.

We do this in the UK as absolutely no chance of damaging the car towing with 2 wheels on the ground, the tow firm would get sued otherwise. Maybe in the US they don't care if they wreck someone's transmission or whatever.

they also have what’s called a Tow Dolly, so when a regular tow truck tows a car they could put it on the Tow Dolly that way it’s totally off the ground

This method seems so much more complex and risky compared to the other methods. What's the advantage of this except for moving AWD vehicles? Although the roller dollies for a flatbed really negate the difficulty for towing an AWD.

I'd imagine something to do with how tight streets can be. A truck with a flatbed or hitch would take up more of the roadside and more time having to line up. Time is usually of the essence since they do block a lot of roadway in any case. Just a guess 🤔

We use one where it is easier than setting up a side winch. Used correctly there is little chance of damage to the vehicle. No farting around with slipperies and snatch blocks. We do use Streetlifters for removing abandoned vehicles, also when highways want a road cleared for resurfacing or works. Sometimes we use them for teslas if they refuse to go into towing mode if requested. Yes, we do also use dollies and slipperies as well but each job is assessed and the best option used. There is the other point that using one to remove an obstructing vehicle creates more of a spectacle (excuse the pun) and sends the message out that your car will be moved however you try to outsmart the system. Lol

The vehicle parked in the suspended marked Areas, and it could be for anything, traffic flow or designated vehicle. Before the suspension is active, they give 3 to 5 days of notice.

At the venue I worked security at, if someone thought they'd just leave their vehicle behind overnight in a marked NO PARKING OVERNIGHT parking lot, the next morning the venue maintenance guy would just effortlessly use the Pettibone forklift and pick up the vehicle (exhaust & undercarriage be damned) and drop it off premises on a far sidestreet.

If you look across the bed of the truck (1.00 -1.30) you can see a sign "Parking restrictions apply". It means its probably a controlled parking area for either residential permit holders or its a pay and display. You can also see a penalty charge notice under his wiper arm. Consider yourself very lucky if you find a FREE (of charge) parking space in London !
