I’ve used the oblique formation and it were surprisingly very effective. Mostly because most of the AI’s unit took the bait, and the cavalry could swoop the archers, while I won the flank I was betting easily.

It really is strong. The AI seems to glitch out like "Weren't we supposed to fight?" XD

This tactic was used in so many battles it is incredible. And the best thing is that it actually works ingame! Although I lost this one... :)

So isn't the point to have a wing as an attack wing and a wing as a defensive wing? So you still need to be able to turn your line to cover the attack. Like this ~ seems to be just how you use the outflankers and place part of your reserve.

@@Toxborg yes depends on player but I tried alexander oblique order used militia pikes basic javelin focused money one elites pike and cavalry. People were not able to realize what happening Il. It also work in napoleon in napoleonic. You recruit militia boost morale with an elite focus elites airfast shooter on flanks delay with center hit with flanks also with napoleonic skirmishes it worked .

Nah man, I't is just low sensitivity and free handmovement. I've been looking for a camera mod for ages.

All these oblique order videos have copied off each other and theyre all WRONG. What theyve demonstrated is in fact another, simpler tactical method called CONCENTRATION OF FORCE. They dont understand the formation nor its purpose and have focused on the completely wrong details. Oblique order has absolutely nothing to do with where you place the bulk of your forces. It is abput STAGGERING a portion of your line, like a flank(or center, as at Ilipa) backwards at an angle, this tactic is also known as the "REFUSED FLANK." Its purpose is to protect a weakened flank from being outflanked (as at Leuctra)by the enemy or to mask forces behind it(as at Pharsalus)

Been watching your videos on and off for years, so thank you for that. When it comes to barbarian factions (specifically the odryssians) which battle tactic would you say works the best? @toxborg

Probably this tactic here for any faction if you use DEI. Vanilla on the other hand is a completely different beast
