@winterlinde53956 ай бұрын
@@mrlnxf8455 do you mean one of the three songs- Britney‘s or the two I suggested in particular? I guess I was referring to what Walter says in the video. And all these songs were originally sung by women and AMK don’t change the lyrics what is most fun to watch in the SXTN song. I’m sure the lyrics can be relatable to everyone regardless of their gender.
@mrlnxf84556 ай бұрын
@@winterlinde5395 All of them - I was also referring to what he said. Yes, they were originally sung by women, but that doesn't mean the cover has to be interpreted as being sung from a female perspective, just because a man is singing it without a pronoun change it doesn't mean he's singing it from a female perspective. A man can sing about a man.
@winterlinde53956 ай бұрын
@@mrlnxf8455 l know. And I just listened to the Zarah Leander song again and noticed that he does switch out the pronouns in a couple of occasions. But when you understand the lyrics you see that SXTN describe a very specific „relationship“ between men and women and the part Henning is singing does refer to a female body… oh well you can perceive that differently, too. Do you understand German? I think it’s these Mehrdeutigkeiten that make Henning’s cover versions even better.

The song was written by production company Bloodshy & Avant, and originally offered to Kylie Minogue, who turned it down, before it was offered to Britney. Spears most certainly had no hand in the writing of this song 🤣 This cover is absolute gold though ❤

Hej, friendlywalter, I was thinking of recommending that song for another reaction session of yours and just saw you already found that jewel. The cover version gives me goose bumps every time I hear it and I really like how - by reducing effects and tempo, concentrating on lyrics and voice - that song turns into a desperate hymn of devoting oneself - no matter if girl or boy - to seduction, sensual intoxication, surrender to overpowering temptation (- that a girl can be for a boy, as well ;) ...speaking of female perspective... Maybe Henning May should have changed "guy" to "girl" - he really sounds concerned, identified.) And thank you for your warm-hearted approach to your audience in your vids!

As a gay men, I wouldn't say that it is necessary a "female role" he's taking. I would guess, that a lot of songs by female singers, are not sung by hetero men, because they fear to be seen as gay. I as well like that he's not having that fear apparently.

I agree, I don't see any reason to assume it's from a female perspective... a man can just sing about a man lol!!

He/they will never change the pronouns, never have. While being heteroes. And that s the point. It shouldn t matter. But it still does, does it. We are getting there I hope
@benjaminknorr70846 ай бұрын
Are they all heterosexual, though? I thought they were very private about their lives, and haven’t said anything about their sexualities, but I could be wrong. If not, there’s plenty of room for them to be bi.
@carolinemarburger58596 ай бұрын
@@benjaminknorr7084 sure. That s right. In theory. If they are either, great. But the point is still that it shouldn t matter.admittedly, within our world, it is still stronger if hetero males or women take that stand because it would be making a general cause for whatever kind of love from within the given hierarchy we do speak or is spoken from. So let s say it s just a band of any orientation making a stand. Still works for me. I m happy for them to be anything they wanna be. Maybe it s about being private about it which has to be respected. And yes it was an assumption of mine, maybe unfairly so. I don t care in the end: I don t think it changes the point in general. They have chosen not to "adjust" the pronouns. For whatever the reason. It remains consistent and a choice.

I'm curious why you feel like it's sung from a "female perspective"?
@walterooski6 ай бұрын
I mean, I suppose because he is covering a Britney Spears song I was assuming the song was being sung lyrically from Britney’s perspective. I was saying what I said because I liked that he didn’t change the lyrics to “a girl like you should wear a warning” the way some other male artists do in an effort to appear more macho. I think it’s disrespectful to the writer to make amendments or take liberties with the lyrics but some people do it anyway and it ruins a cover for me when that happens.
@mrlnxf84556 ай бұрын
@@walterooskiI completely agree that it's cool not to change the pronouns! Personally I'd just interpret it as a man singing about another man (due to not changing the pronouns), I wouldn't have made the jump to seeing it as the male artist covering the song assuming a female perspective. Thanks for the reply.
@walterooski6 ай бұрын
If Henning wrote the song, I wouldn't have anything to say about it because, in that context, it's just a man singing about another man. That said, because he was covering Britney Spears, I guess my brain just said it was from her (Britney's) female perspective he was singing from. I've heard plenty of male artists change lyrics when covering female perspective songs and it's just always been distasteful to me. I suppose I could've communicated it differently but, either way, I applaud him for respecting the song.

I must admit I never understood the hype of this song. Never liked it, I think it's dull and predictable, but this cover version makes it at least tolerable. Sounds actually much better with a man singing.

To be fair. All the hate is probably just like Nickelback. The song was big and it’s Britney. So we’ll hate it. From a musicians perspective this song is unnecessarily good
@suvijii8416 ай бұрын
@@mondexponent2126 nah, I actually like Britney, but this particular song just doesn't do anything for me. Just out of curiosity: which parts of this song makes it good for you? Because I find the composition rather monotinous. Lyrically, it's a bit pretentious. Of course personal taste is everyone's own and I won't debate that, but as a musician? I really don't see what makes this song good.
