I saw my ex husband cry one time. I lost all respect for him. … however, we were in the process of divorcing and I left him with two of our four children for what was supposed to be less than two hours, who at the time were both ten, while I took our newborn to the store to get her diapers and a few things and our oldest was at work. When I came back a half an hour later, no groceries because he called me, and baby on boob he was crying. For the first time ever in front of me. Because for the first time in our (almost over) marriage he had to deal with the kids fighting by himself and didn’t know how to get them to stop because he had never paid attention to how to separate them and split his time between them. IF women do lose respect for a man for crying, it’s because the only time they show it is as a last resort to try and make you feel some sort of sympathy or pity.

@@TheMisterGuy again, my personal experience but I’ve heard this also happens in a lot of cases, at first they “love bomb” you, which is they typically ask you a bunch of questions while barely talking about themselves so they can pretend to be everything you’ve ever dreamed of while you don’t really know them much. The more “stuck” I got (moved in together, got engaged, married, baby) the more he let it slip that he was always this monster pretending to be everything I wanted. There’s also financial A buse. Get you to quit your job, put you in debt, ruin your credit. All in the hopes you literally CANT leave. It’s a touchy subject, and I am autistic so idk what to recommend to be honest because I learn better from hearing personal experience than reading on google so that’s not a good recommendation to me.. and sometimes it doesn’t matter how much you try to explain that they still get angry.

Quick clarification. There's more than one testosterone injecting crowd. I'm a trans guy and my experience with trans men generally is that they tend to be feminist, supportive of women, and don't suffer much toxic masculinity. I'd also mention that lifters who do T have been some of the most trans accepting guys I've met and generally seem like good people. They respect a person going to extreme lengths to acquire the body they want, regardless of reason. Also, a lot of non-body building cis men have to take T for medical reasons. These guys are trash, yes. Doesn't have anything to do with hormones though.

@@CorwinFound yes, thank you for that clarification. And, anecdotally, one of my friends who is a CIS man had to take testosterone supplements because his body wasn’t producing enough. He’s a good dude and getting his hormones balanced helped him to feel a lot better. There’s no shame in needing to balance out one’s hormones. Obviously my friends experience isn’t the same as the misogynists featured in this video - but it’s the misogyny that is the issue, not the hormonal imbalance. Taking T didn’t turn my friend into a raging misogynist!

Some really interesting ones seem to show that testosterone doesn't cause violence/aggression/hyper-competitiveness, rather doing those things causes the testosterone to rise! I know from my experience that starting on testosterone hasn't caused me to be any more angry. The reverse. I'm much more emotionally stable with the correct hormones happening for me. It's true that lowered testosterone decreases violence but it also decreases general energy levels, reduces sex drive, and increases depression. It appears that testosterone and violence are a very weak link and no more dependent on each other than testosterone and depression.

After witnessing my parent's happy marriage (their 40th anniversary is coming up!) I can confirm that this prof speaks the truth 😁 My dad is fairly open with his emotions and growing up we saw him cry a few times. For example, he cried when his dad died, when our dog had to be put down, and once because he was very concerned about me after college (long story). All of us have a ton of respect for him. He's a caring, trustworthy, wonderful dad. He treats my mom with respect, and vice versa. I don't think I've ever heard them nag or yell at each other! Their "fights" are more like "discussions while being slightly upset". If anything, I might love and respect my dad more because he's not afraid to show emotion. He doesn't care about pretending to be stoic; he's his own man.

I actually had a conversation sort of on these lines with my sister. We talked about how being vulnerable is a great way to connect with another person and that I thought people were drawn to her because she’s approachably vulnerable. I think the issue is that most men are likely pretty low in emotional intelligence due to societal expectations of being “manly” and “not emotional” that they struggle to be vulnerable in a productive way and end up just trauma-dumping on women which is what a therapist is for, not a partner. Obviously partners can help but they shouldn’t be expected to bear the entirety of the other’s emotional needs. I think that this is unfortunately where the trope of a woman “fixing” a man (i.e. dealing with his toxic BS and rage) comes from.

My husband was a construction worker. He was the picture of a masculine man. Huge muscles from lifting sheets of plywood up over his head all day. he loved babies, rom coms, puppies and his family. I did all those things for him because he worked hard, in the cold and heat. When he got off he came straight home, took a shower and played with our kids while i cooked dinner and cleaned up. My husband (and partner of 33 years) cries in front of me several times a year. You know, when his emotions get big enough to elicit tears. He also has told me about maybe once or twice a year that he has cried when I wasn't around. So that's, let's say, 7 x 33 times, or 231 times I have witness his crying. I have to say, at least 220 of those times, my respect for him went up, not down. The only time I ever lost respect for him crying was waaayyy back in our very early twenties when he cried over, essentially, not getting his way. But the times he was moved, by love or by pain or by compassion or by beauty, or by despair or by purity of joy? My estimation of his character went up every damned time! Every one.

She had too much residual anger about things from her childhood and she did not believe in therapy, though she did find some comfort going back to church, singing in choir.

It sucks because due to coping mechanisms I am currently overweight and try to get fitter bc I like being healthy. But whenever I find someone that does short form content that motivates you the garbage follows right behind and makes it worse

@@Killroy007 I highly recommend changing your coping mechanism and making life much easier you find a Dr./PhD of Neuropsychology who does trauma therapy. These therapies are ACT = Acceptance Commitment Therapy, DBT = Dialectical Behavior Therapy, EMDR = Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprogramming Therapy. The EMDR should be done alongside the ACT & DBT. I don't recommend Psychiatrist because they are all about passing out pills and not giving therapy that can help you. My experience is they do more gaslighting than helping to be honest. If you do need ADHD medicine, they are good for that after you have been diagnosed and have a letter. All these trauma therapies talk about mindfulness/meditation. It is a core part of the therapies. Depending on what you're coping with you should start these with a therapist. Because I have ADHD and I am Autistic my executive functioning isn't functioning very well at all. These therapies have been life saving for me as a neurodivergent, because when I got my diagnosis and started therapy I was in complete shutdown after burning out as an autistic person with ADHD. Also, because I am slowly coming out of shutdown, I discovered that guided Hypnosis recordings on Audible really help me in accomplishing the same outcomes as mindfulness and meditation would if I could sit and do the mindfulness/meditation. I really love one by Glenn Harrold = Overcoming Stress. Hope this helps you get back to a place of homeostasis. Try not to beat yourself up too much about your weight. That will only make it get worse for starters. Secondly, once you can get back to homeostasis and have better coping mechanisms you can work on learning to eat intuitively. Sorry, this is so long, but I really felt what you posted deep down inside.

I admire and respect the fact that he is aware of his emotions, he’s willing to go through them instead of avoiding them, and he’s comfortable enough to share them. I love that about him. My brother actually got broken up with by a girlfriend because he was emotionally unavailable. Being the sensitive/emotional one of the two of us, I’ve sometimes wished that I could be more like that. I met a guy at a club who harassed me all night being so freaking rude and his friend was just not saying anything at all but looked a little awkward. I can be slow on the uptake so I didn't understand why this guy wouldn't leave me alone when he clearly wasn't feeling me.... end of the night he says "so can I have your number", I still don't understand what's happening so I just said "after you insulted me all night? i'd rather give it to your friend" and he just rolled his eyes and walked away and said nothing else. It took me recounting it to my friends before i was like OH OH OH MY GOD IT WAS A PICK UP BRO THING. Genuinely sad that i didn't realise so I didn't mess with him. Good on him though for wasting literally his entire night trying to make me, who is beyond confident in myself regardless of what strangers think, feel bad about myself so that i'd go home with him. (edit: i didn't and wouldn't have given his friend my number either but i was so thrown by him thinking I would do that after him following me around insulting me for four hours)

The first guy definitely wants a new mommy lol as the woman in that scenario, I've always been treated like garbage and expected to always be mommy for men who want that. Now, on the other hand you could argue that he's simply encouraging men to consider these types of women as a foundation, but honestly, some of these guys legit will dehumanize you the moment you fall and need help getting back on your feet. It's better to have someone who doesn't expect these things from you so they appreciate you even more and always build you up and reassure you even when you faulter.

Gosh my mom wasn't a bad person and I have alot of really good memories of and with her, but she had a lot of unresolved and undiagnosed mental health issues that she refused to treat all due to her own trauma caused by her mother. She didn't want to be seen s 'crazy'. I know she tried to fight her demons as hard as she could because, compared to what I've been told of her childhood, mine was pretty good. That being said my mom did like to pit me my brother and our dad against eachother (I was the easiest to manipulatebecause of my at the time undiagnosed bipolar). Because of this I couldn't look my dad in the eye most of my late childhood to early teens, she had poisoned me against him and though I never outright told him, I hated him. I saw him as a dictator. Looking back he was so unhappy and tired and thats why he seemed so dead all the time. He wasn't being treated right and thats why he was so grumpy. But he never when out of his way to hurt me. Not once. It wasn't until my mom passed that I truly saw him fall apart. And when he did that was when I realized that he's human too and he's not a dictator. He's just my dad and he loves me and he put up with so much for so long because he loved my mom and didn't want to leave her again (they were divorced for a very short period of time). I didn't truly see my dad until I saw him sobbing his heart out over my mom when she died.

She is not "a keeper." The moment anything horrible happens to you - an accident, the loss of someone close, or a serious physical problem - she is going to dump you. If she doesn't want you to show emotion, then she doesn't care about YOU, she just cares about your wallet.
