"Baiting" is the psychological process by which an individual does things out of spite or engages in behaviors that they know will trigger you to react to them in unhealthy ways.
They hope for a reaction that will either result in your own personal or professional loss, or they hope that you will act out of character.
In the end, the ultimate goal is to create a toxic exchange or environment that will undermine you and possibly even cause you to lose your credibility.
Toxic people function best when they have someone to blame and control.
Baiting is a toxic tactic that people may use when they are on the narcissistic spectrum, the antisocial personality spectrum, and even with disturbed and toxic parents.
Join me Friday at 7:00 p.m. est. as I discuss disturbed parents and toxic family dynamics.

I’ve experienced this. I didn’t realize exactly what was going on until I heard someone describe it. They want you as the “level headed,” “moral” person to slip up.

Oh yes. Slip up and then respond so that they can get you to act out of character. It's a sneaky manipulation indeed.

I know exactly what you mean by baiters. I think a lot of narcissists are baiters. In some cases, you may have to be very uncomfortable with yourself, you may have to be very uncomfortable with yourself in order to try to make other people miserable.

It's like the kid in the Looney Tunes cartoons. "I want an Easter Egg!" taunting Bugs Bunny, and the second Bugs grabs his arm he starts screaming his head off like he is being tortured.

My dad’s wife does this to me. She’s only 11 years older than me. She’s an evil narcissist and has destroyed my family relationships. I’m from my dad’s first marriage. She is his third wife. Their daughter (half sister) is vicious to me too. Her mother has raised her to hate me… triangulation.

Oooh. I love these. Before I even listened I wanted to remind people that when we tell these stories, there’s a lot to be gained in after sight. 💯😉👈🏻”I had mentioned last week that I found a site, and the lady was rude n all that. I appreciated the DOCS advice and comment on that as well. But I noticed something. People are now acting as if, when you put a comment THAT RELATES to the author/creator/producer of the particular show/podcast/website, that you’re somehow IN THE WRONG, by guilt tripping you about your agreement? As if you’re manipulating the person? 😂❤this is absolutely weird. 😝🤟it’s like a new antisocial trend that haters and negativity poisoned individuals use as a way to START AN ARGUMENT. Some people come on KZbin and Instagram just to confuse you. That’s new to me. Maybe borderline or narcissistic types. 😬🙏not quite sure, but has anybody else seen this kind of annoying trend? ☺️❤

Omg I was just thinking that! My baiter is my coworker. Everyday he goes out of his way to throw me off my emotions and gets annoyed when it doesn’t work. Once, I told him that the reason he doesn’t get to me is because I do not hold a space of emotional connection and vulnerability to him and that got him very upset.
