Amen, me and my man have full plans to discuss amongst ourselves and with a counselor the second we begin to seriously consider having a child. Particularly our stances we have on parenting styles and working to resolve or compromise where we have strong differences before we ever conceive. Ain't fair to a baby to leave how the two adults parent together up to trial and error and hoping it works out. Not to say some trial and error ain't normal mind you, you can't see everything coming but people should do their damndest not to bring a baby into this world just for them to split cause they don't know and didn't bother to try and find out how to be parents *together.* Smh.

I hate how Mathis bypassed the fact that he claimed she was mentally and physically abusive and everyone just laughed. I hate how Mathis called him a deadbeat just because he was behind it payments. If he got out of his feelings long enough to listen with logic, he'd be able to hear that the plaintiff got the truck when he had a job that was paying enough for the government to take out $500 a month plus $200 extra for back pay. It was only after he lost his job that he no longer had that kind of money to pay in child support and is why he is thousands of dollars past due. Also, Judge chose not to go into detail when the plaintiff said she was keeping the kids from him. However, I will say this, he definitely showed his ignorance when he thought signing away his rights would erase the debt of child support and help him start over. This whole thing is just sad. I only feel sorry for the children.

Imagine going from $80-$100,000 a year to $40-45,000 a year, especially depending if you live in areas I which the standard of living is much higher than other places.

I responded that he only told how much he was giving in child support so that the defendant couldn't say he wasn't paying at all, which she would have given that, because he no longer has the same job as before, he is in arrears. I,too, believe that he was wrong for thinking that signing over his rights would dissolve the child support debt, but I think he thought that would give him time to start over financially.
