Out of all the animated shows based on the web slinger, the 1994 series is the one Spidey series I always love and still enjoy watching. This is one of a few series that actually understood the concept of Spidey, the characters & the rogues gallery. While I'm sad it never got the ending it deserve, it doesn't change the fact that the 94 series left quite a impact.

That was the absolute best time to be a kid in my opinion. Batman, X-Men, Spider-Man, Power Rangers. Star Wars was relaunched soon after. Wrestling exploded a few years later. Video games were revolutionary. Home computers were becoming a regular household item. The internet was in its infancy. There was no social media. Your attention span wasn’t being destroyed by your phone. Kids played with toys and outside. Arcades existed. Childhood will never be that fun again.

And when you watch videos like this and others and realize just how many restrictions were on this show, and yet despite that it still turned out as good as it did and is still just as enjoyable to this day is a real testament to the work of the team behind the show. The theme song is a bonafide classic and that green goblin arc is an all timer. And while it didn't get traditional series finale, I actually like where it ended. 13:55 and right before the incredible "Multiverse" finale, we had the amazing MAU crossover adventure. MAU, of course. stands for "Marvel Animated Universe". Back in the 90s, we had several Marvel cartoons. In addition to Spider-Man and X-Men (which you mentioned), we also had cartoons for Iron Man and The Fantastic Four. The amazing MAU crossover adventure had Spider-Man teaming up with Iron Man, The Fantastic Four, and Storm from the X-Men. (Spider-Man, much earlier in his cartoon, had an adventure in which he met the entire X-Men team from their cartoon). The other Marvel characters not only were voiced by the actors / actresses who voiced them in their cartoons, but the art style was also done so that these characters looked (almost) exactly like they did in their own cartoons as well, making it truly look like the cartoon characters were "crossing over" and teaming up with each other. Forget the MCU, the MAU was so much better ----- it had the X-Men.

Here's what Semper later said about the series finale. "When Peter Parker meets Stan and finally says, 'I'm happy with myself,' then his story is over. He's gone beyond his creator. Now he's his own creation. Many people think I put Stan in that episode as a cheap gimmick, but the bigger issue is always overlooked: Here's a guy standing in front of his creator (in fact, his god) and saying, "You know what? I am beyond what you have created, with all my flaws and problems. I faced the test that you made for me and now I am beyond it. And I'm pleased with myself. When the hero says something like that, there is nothing more to tell about his journey, and his saga is over. And who cares if he saves the girl or not?"

Ah yes. The series that started it all. It's hard to find a Spider-Man media property that wasn't influenced by this series in some way. It's the Spider-Man cartoon that every movie, cartoon, and video game gets their ideas from. -Green Goblin split personality -Dr Connors being Peter’s school teacher/mentor -Otto Octavius being Peter’s mentor -Eddie Brock being a rival coworker -Eddie Brock taking incriminating pictures of Spider-Man. -A Goblin trying to take over the criminal underworld by usurping the biggest mob boss in the city. -John Jameson bringing the symbiote to Earth. -Dr Connors being the person who discovers that the symbiote is alive. -The Vulture having a vendetta against Norman Osborn -Norman Osborn being in league with the Kingpin (or the show’s Kingpin equivalent). -Spider-Man teaming up with alternate universe versions of himself -And finally…The Alien Costume corrupting it’s host is the story for every adaptation EXCEPT the original.

This tv show single-handily made me a Spider-Man fan for life.

Can we FINALLY get an UNEDITED Spider-Man: the Animated Series on DVD box set, please?! It's been almost 30years, and is STILL a fan favorite, clearly it has stood the test of time. I've been watching superhero shows since as early as I can remember (early 80s) and this contends with BTAS for the top spot. Superb writing, character development, art style, voice casting -- this show has it ALL!!

I loved this cartoon! The best Spider-Man ever made (even if they had a few weird things like he couldn´t punch or kill enemies and they had to be creative on it, like the portals meaning the character deaths or punching walls instead of villains).

Put the progress bar back so I know when to skip to the end of the ad lol

I was such a little comics nerd back then. It bothered me to no end that Hobgoblin was introduced BEFORE Green Goblin. The X-Men cartoon drove me crazy for similar deviations from established comics canon. Because of this show I have the words "NEOGENIC RECOMBINATOR" permanently taking up valuable space in my brain...

As a kid, I remember liking Spider-Man more than X-Men because it had better animation and was brighter. Although I recall sometimes the show seemed liked it ran in slow motion, line the frame rate dropped suddenly. Anyone else have that thought?

Speaking of spiderverse, it's worth noting that the spot is in several episodes of this show, and his powers are fairly critical to a late story arc involving norman and mj

Not to date myself, but, I used to watch the 1960's Spiderman Cartoon. "Spins a web any size. Catches thieves just like flies."

How can you talk about this show without mentioning the neogenic recombinator? It's responsible for half the plots in the series. It blows things up, mutates people, helps with time and dimension travel. It does everything!
@SecretGalaxyTV Жыл бұрын
It was easy. Tune in next week when we won't talk about it again!
@SumDumGy Жыл бұрын
It must have been introduced after I stopped watching. I never heard of it.

@@SecretGalaxyTV I'll be here next week. I guess I can live without my favorite YT show mentioning the neogenic recombinator. I guess...
@justingoers Жыл бұрын
@@SumDumGy It's in a huge chunk of the episodes. I think it might even be what creates the spider that bites Peter.

@@justingoers I definitely didn’t watch more than the first two seasons, if that, so I have no recollection of it anywhere in that batch of episodes.

There was a pc game where you could make your own cartoon using short animated character clips and stock sounds and props and backgrounds from the show. Lots of fun.

There definitely was a definitive amount of care put into preserving the spirit of comics along with their story lines in this, the X-man, Batman and later Superman series, farm than seen before and since. We we're truly spoiled in those times.

As a Spider-Man fan since around 1993... I'm not going to rain on anyone's parade, but I *will* say that Spectacular is my favorite Spidey cartoon. Still waiting on Freshman Year to see how they do with that, though.

Amazing show. Hopefully they release it on DVD at some point 😔

@@RandoLePerson there are only a few episodes officially released on dvd right now. VOD is temporary and they could take down or alter whenever they want. And bootleg DVDs are just the stuff anyone can find on torrent sites that someone burned to a DVD. I'm hoping for a complete official release like we've seen with the X-men and Batman cartoons. Batman even got a Blu-ray but I'd be happy with dvd at this point.

The funny thing to me about those last two episodes is that one of the Spider-Men is strongly implied to be Christopher Daniel Barnes in a Spider Costume. No powers, just there.

It was a great series. And was hilarious that Spider-Man wasn't allowed to punch anyone.

In my headcanon, he only did that because he doesn't know how to manage his super strength via said punches. Same with how Superman doesn't just use heat vision on living enemies much.

Actually, Spider-Man punched: - Spot - Green Goblin - Scorpion - Chameleon - Hydroman - Morbius - Black Cat (to free himself) - Smythe (to free himself) - Alternative Man-Spider - A lizard arena warrior - Two guards Also, when Spider-Man was a Man-Spider, he punched Punisher and Kraven

You have also forgotten about when Spider-Man Cartoon Series first came on TV & it was back in 1967 long before the other cartoons came back after being on The Electric Company & the Television Series in '77. Plus when a newer version came out on DVD back in 2001 with just 13 episodes & it was in 3-D or CGI(I don't remember).
