We had 40” Toyo tires installed on a F-350 and I believe 3 of the 4 tires required no weights to balance the tires. That to me was impressive especially for the size of the tire.

Great review. I've been a big fan of Toyo's Open Country R/T and M/T's. They both ride very well on the pavement and have great grip out in the wilderness alongside excellent sidewall protection.

i owned the open at 3s 275 x for my f150 they were good tires on the road and off road , they didn't work good when pulling my boat out the water beach launch with partial concrete ramp sometimes the ramp gets buried in sand i would have to air down to 15 psi that's with a 9 foot extend a hitch so i upgraded to rts they work a lot better i only air down to 25 psi and don't spin the tires very much th rts are 285 x 11 the 275 ats reduced my mpg 2 the 285s 3-4 miles

Here’s some feedback: my AT2 lasted only 30k miles, or 42 months Truck Toyota Tundra TRD pro, 295/55 R20 Pros: good in highway, quiet ride,good looking stance with 2 inch level kit. Excellent durability ! Truck drove many trails in the west Desert and mountain off roads types In Utah. Never got a flat ever !! Many trails were very rocky and had sharp stones more suitable for a Mud terrain. Washboards roads was secure and control up to 70mph Cons: toyo warranty was not true. sucks for winter time no feeling secure in pavement, my tires only lasted 30k miles ,tread left is 8/32. Not secure anymore, signs of cracking, no more tightness on turns at highways exits or turns. Probably the best life was until 25k miles. I’m going for the AT3 now because the snow flake rated but I was debating also to install the RT But for my needs I need my truck feel more secure in winter and more quiet ride to hear that TRD double throaty v8 exhaust muffler

You experience was and the problem with many of these tires is that the sipes only go halfway down through the tread blocks. So when the tire is half worn there are no more sipes in the tread blocks and you have zero wet and snow traction. You are right, the tires are worthless at that point, but Toyo is right in that there is still half the tread left so no warranty adjustment for mileage. You could buy a tire grooving tool and cut your own sipes to get the rest of your use out of the tire. Toyo is not the only manufacturer doing this. You need to look closely at the tread prior to purchase.

@@peterrey8157I have a 03 F250 ccsb with lots of mods that make the truck weigh 8300lbs unloaded. I got 50k miles out of my last set of toyo rt's. Wear was so good even with towing heavy(14.5k lbs via gooseneck) that I put another set on. Looks to be on track for another 50k so far. I like them SOO much, that I ordered another set of 35 12.50 on my 04 F350 6.0 ccsb, and fully expecting around 50k miles out of them as well. If you understood tire ratings and construction, you would know that the 3 ply tire as a 6 ply rated tire. You are confusing ratings with actual plies. No passenger truck or Jeep tire has 6 actual plies because it would be excessively stiff and would over heat from the friction in the sidewall plies.
@toyotabrony2 жыл бұрын
3 plies are plenty to handle any road situation. If this is not enough, look for something else
