This has to be the most detailed and logical video on taking the airbag and clock spring apart I’ve ever heard of. Great video Peter.

I had trouble getting a stuck tire off. A video I watched the guy said "if it'll wobble, it'll come off" I follow that piece of advice regularly.

Thank you for taking the time to make such a clear and easy to follow video. I also greatly appreciate the many points at which you paused and offered caution to avoid further complications to the repair. This was a great help to me! The horn works again!

Very detailed and informative. Since this appears to be a common problem, providing the part number for the clock spring would have been helpful.

Having an airbag deploy accidentally is not only an expensive repair but also quite dangerous if it’s too close to your face or if you have any tools between it and your body. Great video Peter on a repair that always makes me nervous. 👍

I JUST filmed the EXACT same repair on my 2006 Corolla (Cactus Mica, not red. lol) What a coincidence...same car, same time, same problem...

Peter, thank you for this video. Very helpful. Won't the airbag light also illuminate if there is a fault found with the passenger airbag ? In that case, will the the ECM produce a different code ?

I replaced the clock spring on my 2006 Matrix, but I had to drive it to autozone with the airbag disconnected because the puller they loaned me was messed up and was going to damage the threads. Once I got a good puller and installed clock spring and airbag there was no a check engine light, as you mentioned. However, I found a history code (airbag circuit open) in ABS module with scan tool.

Would the same instructions be applicable to a 2010 toyota corolla?

Petr, In my 18+ years of ownership, the clock spring is one of just 3 unscheduled repairs I have had on my 2005 Vibe. My car may very well have come down the same assembly line as this Corolla. 🤔

Is this part only available at Toyota dealership Peter? Probably on something like that should use only OEM anyway yes?
@skeedadyl9 ай бұрын
I replaced the one in my Prius a few years ago and the prices from different sources ranged from $8 (obviously knockoffs) to over $100. I tried twice with the cheap ones (they looked identical and I had the time to waste) before getting an OEM off Amazon for ~100. Just make sure it says OEM Toyota if you don't want to pay dealer $$.

Fun fact - Peter the Great was Russian. My ancestor was an aristocrat in Peters court. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_von_Sivers
