My bz came with 3 phase 11kw charger. Husband can get a full charge on level 2 while at work no problem.

I never try to draft a car or SUV. If I need more range, I will get behind a semi truck. I rarely get close, so I need a big truck to get a benefit from drafting. Another benefit is it forces me to drive slower, as trucks often are fitted with speed limiters.

The early press cars delivered to Sweden had 1 phase. But the car that was sold to customers was 3 phase,11kW onboard charger.

It’s because they had a lot 1 phase charger in stock and due the Ukraine war and the rest of pandamic struggle they were short on 3 phase charger in the beginning.

DUUUUD, if it is X1 extreme, you could use usb-c charger, it will be slower but it will charge it

This car is the current laughing stock in China because of range and charging speed. However, it's heavily discounted from MSRP 249K to 160K RMB, with great warranty, so it's actually interesting provided one has home charging.

I have an similar Lenovo. You can plug in a type C charger in one of the USB C ports and it will charge

No one has 3 phases in North America. That is unfortunate but can still charge up to 11kW which plenty for home charging. Not pratical on the road.

the bz4x Toyota dealers got in the start is only 1 phase, something with not enough resources and saving the 3 phase chargers for costumer cars. The demo bz4x with 1 phase will not be sold here in the EU after dealers are done with them. Probably goes to some 1 phase countries like England, or recycled. The ones being delivered to customers are 3 Phase 11kw

The BZ4X still has a lot of issues to be corrected. Who ever heard of an electric vehicle needing a charging holiday to cool the battery. Toyota is still many years behind where it should have been 5 years ago. I suspect any fixes will be a completely new model.

No they are not worried and will be able to make more and better evs. They wanted the battery to last a long time. Don’t forget 3 Toyotas are still the best selling vehicles sold.

You can get USB PD Trigger devices which tell a charger to output 20v then have a barrel jack or square lenovo connector for older laptops. I use them with my non-usb-c Asus laptop all the time. Generally only 60W so don't touch your graphics card

Hi, what software you use on your smartphone and which diagnose adapter? For the range, if you use the ECO on ther climate, you will get ca. 20-30 km more range. The range change directly in the display.

Hey Bjorn, we need your insight as far as how the implementation of the superchargers to other Evs has been in Norway. I know initially there was some apprehension understandably from Tesla owners, how has the situation played out thus far? Any friction? The news here in America, is that Ford will be switching to NACS( Tesla standard) moving forward in 2025 given reliability problems with ccs here. And this might just be a big shift. Podcast about this please.

Unless you follow a truck really close (within 1-2 meters) you do not get draft, you get turbulent air which slows you down. So don't do it.

Agreed! I've tested it and it's best to drive at 1 adaptive cruise control distance, which is about 2 seconds apart - it's safe and still ideal for power economy.

Incorrect. You can actually improve the consumption a lot by drafting just 1-2 seconds behind. Even at 3 seconds you still get some effect.

@@bjornnyland You need to have a talk with Richard Petty (the man who "discovered" drafting for car racing). He was so close behind his competitors they thought he was trying to hit them. There is a '70s movie made about his life. As long as you are close enough to take advantage of the draft and have no turbulence, you will see the benefits .... until the police pull you over for following too close.

It took about a year for Hyundai Motors to realize they needed battery preconditioning in their Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6 models. I remember Bjorn's video of the Ioniq 5 issue and figured Hyundai would have the charging corrected before its North America release - nope. A year later they did.

I think that you can not get sufficient power to laptop from USB type-c in the car. The newest high power profiles barely implemented in cars.

The aesthetics of that thing are so awkward that on the KZbin thumbnail it looks like the front wing has been torn off. I spoke with someone at our local Toyota branch (UK) and they are clearly struggling to sell these. Hopefully Toyota have learnt lots of lessons about EVs.

If you leave the car namely the Solterra plugged into your charger the car will pre condition the battery for a maximum of 3 days after which it will turn off automatically .
