I burst out laughing when the plastic connector broke during removal. Not at your misfortune, but because that is precisely what happens in real life on these old cars. squeeze the connector with your fingers, not with a pry tool. And maybe clean off the top more effectively - use a vacuum if there are NO gas fumes, otherwise use a brush.

It's always baffled me HOW there could be VIRTUALLY BARE electrical connections in contact with raw gasoline, just sorta swimming around in it and zapping on and off.

Your description says 1996-2001 these cars were different it was 1992-1996 then 1997-2001 unless they changed the fuel pump in 1996

Not true, because I have a 95 and it does NOT look anything like this ....so they are NOT all the same since 1990 . ....my guess is the one in the video is 97 or later

Can you explain why you connected black to red and red to black on the tester? I believe that the red tester should connect to red and black to black? I must be a newbie but...👀👀

When you are testing resistance all power must be removed if not you will pop the fuse in the meter.To answer your question it does not matter when testing resistance. Ohms Law.

Luigi Seta you should buy the whole thing on amazon, it’s only $120, the filter is inside the pump, and it’s probably near the end of it’s lifespan anyway. I just used this video as a guide and changed mine in an hour. 2008 Camry 250,000 miles.

Paul Govensky if you think you need a pump then you probably do. Especially after 200k miles. Mine usually wouldn’t start back up after a long drive, seemingly worse on hot days. Tried everything, it was the pump. I picked one up on amazon for $120, it took an hour to change following this video.

1:15 shouldn't he be pushing the tab away from, rather than towards, the connector?

Push the top of the tab inward toward the connector. The bottom of the tab then moves away from the connector, thus releasing the lock. Simultaneously pull upward on the connector. A bit tricky, but that’s how it works. Avoid breaking. Our instructor was pushing inward on the bottom of the tab, while prying upward. Plastic broke.

The pump has to be inside the tank or else it will quickly overheat or rust out depending on your local weather. I couldn’t think of a better access point! Believe it or not it took them decades to decide to make a little hole there. We used to have to take the whole tank out!

Chuck Bobuck I agree, my 99 Camry has an issue with dying out when coming to a stop and I was not too excited about the idea of taking all the gas out and dropping the tank, I watched this video and I was so relieved I won’t have to do any of that
