I just got this car two days ago exact same model, but in the sonic silver and I absolutely love it. Never ever thought. I would be driving a hybrid.

Join us for our first drive and reaction in the 2024 Toyota Corolla Cross XSE. It was quite windy so not much of a walk around. This hybrid is surprisingly snappy and light on its feet with comfortable and easy steering. If not out yet, keep an eye out for our full review series on this fuel efficiency crossover.

Skip all the options but opt for two tone paint, especially for the red color model. It looks really hot.

The road and the wind noise in the cabin. There's not much insulation. Feels cheaply made.

The sunroof is useless. You can tilt it open and it is fine but when you open it, the wind noise is unbearable. My corolla sedan didn’t do this. It’s hard to find an XSE trim without it. I enjoy driving my 2024 Corolla Cross SE hyybrid. I will definitely get an XSE in the future. The. Yaris Cross has a better interior trim which would be great in the Corollla Cross.

I wish Mazda would make a CX-30 hybrid in the Alabama plant that this Corolla Cross is made in, with the same 2.0L hybrid system

Thanks for watching and commenting. There is a belief that US Mazda hybrids will come out of this plant. The problem with the Toyota hybrid system, despite being the best overall, does not really fit Mazda’s driving dynamics. Mazda may go down the mild hybrid path prior. Like a 48v system that would keep the Mazda driving feel.

Not my cup of tea. Engine even with the electric motor makes less HP than most competitors and the fuel efficiency for a hybrid at that power level is so so. It is a mass market suv so I get the lack of power but at that price point I think people can do better. 😊

Thanks for watching! We’ll have a full review out soon on this. The hybrid was pretty peppy and the electric motor torque is good. The question is whether the savings on gas makes up for the hybrid price, as there are better driving lower efficiency compact crossovers out there.

It's the same 2.0 hybrid system as the latest prius. It goes from 0-60 under 7 seconds. I don't think there's any other faster option in the segment.

it's actually the best in it's segment. 45 mpg for an awd compact suv is amazing and no one else has done it. I just wish they had a FWD only model with better fuel economy like 50 mpg. Would make for the most practical car imaginable. But then they'd lose prius sales

Couldn’t disagree more. Honda CRV HYBRID has 8 more hp. And is a much heavier vehicle. Don’t understand your so,so mpg🤔🤔. I think I got vertigo watching this video.

@@BeyondTheTestDrive I tried the car, the car has power.😅 I went downtown with it in Budapest (Hungary), as soon as I stepped on the gas pedal, it accelerated normally. It is not designed for novice drivers.

Know spare tire is a deal braker for me couse the tire fixer is only good for one time use . It cost just under 200 dollars each time u have buy new one

Agreed a spare tire would be nice. Really depends on your road and weather conditions that would determine your susceptibility to a flat. We drive over 35,000 miles a years between two cars and have not had a flat I probably 15 years. But I probably just jinxed us🤣. But I prefer cars with a spare. Thanks for watching and commenting.

The non-hybrid Corolla Cross is so underpowered that it is actually dangerous to try to get it to merge with traffic on the freeway. The Corolla Cross hybrid is faster, but also much more expensive, at a price where there are other options that are better (like the RAV4 LE).

Thanks again for watching and commenting. We did spend some time in a non hybrid and while slow it was still more drivable than say the power of the latest HR-V. Non hybrid RAV 4s are a great alternative when considering overall value. Happy motoring.
