Toyota Corolla Cross Safety T-Mate: Exit Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Blind Spot Monitor review

T-Mate for Toyota Corolla Cross combines the latest generation Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) package, which for the first time can be updated Over-The-Air and other active driving and parking assistance systems to not only make driving easier and safer, but also to protect all vehicle occupants as well as other road users in various scenarios.
I checked three of them:
00:06 Safe Exit Assist (SEA)
01:10 Rear Cross Traffic Alert with Automatic Braking (RTCAB)
02:45 Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) on highway
An extra layer of protection when getting out the car provides Safe Exit Assist (SEA). This uses the Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) radar to check for any traffic (including cyclists) approaching from the rear, flashing a warning light if anything is detected. If an attempt is made to open a door, further warning lights flash in the multi-information display and a buzzer is sounded.
Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) and Rear Cross Traffic Alert with Automatic Braking (RCTAB), warning of traffic and hazards when overtaking or reversing. Unfortunately, there is no Front Traffic Alert :(

OMG, I own Corolla Cross, but didn't know it has this safety feature for door opening. Thank you for demonstrating it! Of course, I just don't have the time to read all the good things from the manual .

Every car manufacturer should adopt similar safety features on all cars. Imagine how many lives could be saved and insurance costs could come down.

I like the new safety sense (besides the lane keeping assist, that sometimes pops up unannounced even when it's off). It's not too intrusive (doesn't chime all the time), the adaptive cruise control seems to be doing a good job, and it's a good way to remain efficient IMO. My Brother's 2022 Yaris Cross is more vocal. I was afraid my Corolla would be a never-ending chime fest.

Czy BSM wydaje dźwięki (oprócz wyświetlania ikonek na lusterkach) przy próbie skrętu bez kierunkowskazu gdy nadjeżdza pojazd sąsiednim pasem na który kierowca chce skręcić?

W takiej sytuacji, niezależnie czy jest na sąsiednim pasie auto czy nie, działa asystent pasa ruchu - jak w każdej aktualnej Toyocie.

This Toyota Cross is a non US version. US version doesn't have digital dash board and the LCD infortainment is only 8", not that big size.

US model also doesn't have 360 birds eye view camera or power folding mirrors.

Which trim level? I haven't seen a corolla cross with a 360 camera or that size screen

It depends which country you’re in, this is the European model, it’s also what we get in Australia and New Zealand. If you’re in the US I think they don’t have the full digital dashboard or larger screen.

Damn, a simple cheap and genial solution is to put a bent mirror like in my old VW and don't need these led indicators that rises the price of the cars to the sky

How to do you get the forward moving camera to appear on the multi media display? beginning at 2.21? I dont how to do this on my XLE in the US. Or does it not have it?

Check if your car has it physically.

@@1001cars Its an XLE 2023, and I assume it does. It has the 3.0 sfesty system. So what do you have to do get it appear on the sccrene? Which button do you select? Or do you have to have the Toyota subscription service to do that?

@@trave7644 I am not sure if XLE has it, the best way is to check it :) The front camera should be active just after you change the drive direction from reverse to "drive".

Not just American, it's the same for Middle East & Pakistan. I'm Pakistani and I recently bought the Toyota Cross HEV in Pakistan. It has so many missing features. Y'all got heated seats + heated steering wheel, wireless charging pad, ADAS etc meanwhile we don't.
