Loved this video! Step by step and didn't leave anything out - allowed 2 girls(daughter and I) to change a radiator on a 2007 Toyota.

I never conceived of these rotary ratchets before (never occurred to me that there is such a thing). Added them to my amazon wish list, waiting for warehouse deal on them (because I'm a brokie). Good video also.

After I placed in the new radiator with the top bolts attached too it was shaky when I moved it up and down and side to side. Is it suppose to stay completely held down or loose? And does this mean I need new grommets

Do I have to replace the hose clamps?
@JimmysAutoClinic
@JimmysAutoClinic Жыл бұрын
Hey Trevor if your hose clamps are in good condition you do not have to replace them. However if your hose clamps are rusted then it's probably best to replace them.

It will be a good idea to replace thermostat when you do this?
@JimmysAutoClinic
@JimmysAutoClinic 3 жыл бұрын
Really it's only necessary if the vehicle overheats or loses fluid as it can deform the thermostat. But it's not absolutely necessary. Not a bad idea though. Thanks for the comment. Please subscribe to the channel if you haven't already.

Just did this today. I have a leak from the bottom left. 😭 I may have left the bottom hose clamp screw a little loose. I'll check tomorrow.

How do I know if I should change the hoses? you are funny bro thank you
@JimmysAutoClinic
@JimmysAutoClinic Жыл бұрын
Hey Angelo, generally with the hoses if they look like they're cracking or bulging in any one specific place it's definitely time to change them. Also if it looks like there is coolant coming from the end or edge of the holes most times you have internal crack in the hose. Hoses are made with two rubber layers and a fiber sort of string cloth layer in the middle of the inner and outer rubber. I know kind of confusing maybe I'll do a video explaining it. Essentially in my opinion unless they fail or look like they're going to fail I don't usually replace them. However if they have been exposed to contaminants such as oil or dirty coolant it's probably a good idea to replace whichever ones are needed. Hopefully that helps you out. If it doesn't just ask me what may be confusing and I'll try my best to explain it.

Oh man that's no fun in the rain. If it makes you feel any better it is currently minus 10 in Toronto and they say it feels like mine is 15 so I'll take rain over the cold any day LOL. Good luck my friend

Anyone know if they sell those brass fittings connecting the radiator hose?
@JimmysAutoClinic
@JimmysAutoClinic Жыл бұрын
I don't know of any places that sell the brass fittings for the radiator separately. They're usually included with a new radiator. I think your best bet would be to go to the scrap yard and hopefully find a decent set or to contact the dealership with your VIN number and they may be able to email you a parts list with picture so you can see what it may be. Sometimes they're hard to decipher.

How much antifreeze need Toyota corolla
@JimmysAutoClinic
@JimmysAutoClinic 10 ай бұрын
Generally one jug should be enough however I always recommend getting two because you don't want to be short with antifreeze especially if you're in the north where Winter is always fun.
