It's not my intent to be hateful but you need some genuine critics guys, it is a full-of-errors and noticeably lazily-done review - for example civic does not have an 8-speed automatic (you didn't even bother to check - I get it - but not to notice that the car does not have gears while driving it - that's bad!). "for the civic go for the sport's trim - it comes with adpt cruise control and heated seats" - great, so does the basic trim... in case of corolla it does not have all the features, on the contrary, that's why you should consider higher trim for corolla, and basic trim for civic is fine. There's a whole lot of other things wrong about the interview but it's not my job do a quality check, If you guys want to keep the channel growing or stay at the lvl at least - do it better, fewer mistakes - this review is short from fine and I'm sure you definitely can do better.

I think the difference between the cars is bigger in favor of the Civic. The video embellishes the matter. The operation of the Honda hybrid system, especially when accelerating is much better. I don't understand why this issue is not mentioned or illustrated by the testers. Honda boot is from another planet, it's so much more practical.
@MarSer3 Жыл бұрын
Would have been fair to compare with the Corolla 2.0 hybrid, similar power output, acceleration etc That being said, none is the perfect car, but close in this conditions, not yet ideal to switch to EV, too many drawbacks and unknowns regarding if they are really ecological. I ordered the Civic Advance, a bit pricey for what it offers, but lots of car are pricey nowadays. I expect the prices will fall next few years, not by a lot but will fall. So maybe timing wasn't great but old car (12y vw Polo 1.2tsi) was getting ridiculous expensive to repair/service Civic is larger, more roomy, except back headroom for >180cm, and it drives really pleasant. Materials and interior design could have been sharper and car with better ground clearance and height for backroom. But overall experience is great. Tank size of 40L is one of the big issues I expect when car arrives. Screens could have been slightly bigger, the back arm rest taller, more headroom space in the back, but will see when car arrives. While I understand Honda philosophy to keep it simple, meaning less optionality, some things could have been selectable (rims, more colors, more interior trims, like more metal inserts etc), otherwise it seems that Honda is just saving cost at the expense of customer satisfaction.

I see you tried to measure the cars from an average person perspective. Let me give you some food for thought. The standard hatchback and the Touring sport does not offer the better aerodynamics and stability of a Liftback. Additionally a lower seat position means lower center of gravity. I've watched several reviews of the civic already, some of the reviewers achieving up to 80 mpg. but that depends on the driving style and roads for sure. 50l of additional boot space is a difference not to omit, along with the leg room. I have personally tested the Civic (Advanced trim level) and I was amazed how well it performed in city conditions. There is really no delay in the throttle response and the suspension is doing really good job on the pedestrian bumps, potholes and uneven paved streets. I was even about to purchase it, but there's a little more life in my current car, so I opted out, saving some money. +1 for the Civic.

The interior of the Corolla is going to look dated in a few years, whereas the Civic is timeless. I do like what Toyota are doing in terms of styling with the new generation of cars. Honda are going for a much more understated esthetic, but that sort of thing does tend to age better. Just look at the previous generation Civic hatch, which was ridiculously over-styled... Overall, the Civic just looks and feels more premium and refined.

firstly, i think it needs to be the 2.0ltr corolla to make it a fairer comparision for engines and outputs etc. secondly, the corolla hatchback is still up against the Audi A3/golf etc, but for me the new civic is up against the A4 and the octavia now with its increased size, so maybe choose the corolla tourer v civic for better size comparison. third, could you do another comparison, the toyota CH-R 2.0 v Honda ZR-V or the CH-R 1.8 v HR-V. Now personally i wouldnt go for the 1.8 toyota as feels way to underpowered for the weight of the car, the 2.0 is definitely the way to go. but driving wise after test driving both 2.0ltr versions of these cars the civic is by far the more comfortable, and felt a bit more responsive when driving. Sadly it was taken off our work scheme due to the demand of the car, as honda cant keep up, thus left me looking for another option, i'm currently waiting for a test drive of the ZR-V as be intersting to see how that handles, as the HR-V has only a 1.5 ltr engine from the Jazz but is comparible output wise to the toyota 1.8 engine (around 135 BHP), and was under powered for the weight of the car, whereas the ZR-V has the same engine/hybrid set up of the civic, (so around 180BHP) which should be better. Which is a shame as i personally think the HR-V looks better than the ZR-V.

Used Civic inflated prices is just down to supply. I spoke to local Honda salesman & they got one as a demo but basically promptly sold it due to the mark up on them, so not they don’t have any Civic demo’s at that dealership now. He said if I wanted one new I would probably be looking at roughly 8 months, crazy for a standard hatchback!

The Corolla could have at least added the wing mirror warning light like it has on the chr
@fixxer47 Жыл бұрын
In EU the blind spot monitor light in the mirror is included in GR spec.

UK have to have the Excel spec to get blind spot wing mirror, which is a shame.

Other than the odd GR’s model, Toyota builds cars for the people who don’t really care about driving.
@joekavalauskas8767 Жыл бұрын
That’s definitely the consensus but have you actually driven a new Corolla? It’s not bad at all. CVT feels fine surprisingly good with the physical first gear and reactive paddle shifters. Suspension is sporty and handles pretty neutrally. You’d be pleasantly surprised.
@TsLeng Жыл бұрын
That's almost all manufacturers. Otherwise you are just kidding yourself and believing nonsense . They all make boring SUVs with the odd hot model (faster but still not necessarily good to drive depending on your definition of caring to drive lol). Exceptions: Alpine, Lotus(still), Porsche (mostly good) and a few others. But you get the point

That could be send of any manufacturer today, none more so than those who are pushing EV's which are basically laptop computers on wheels.

@@joekavalauskas8767 Isn't physical gear used in ICE only Dynamic Force Corollas sold in US? The reviewed one with UK spec is a HEV which has no physical gears. This 1.8 HEV engine now has 140HP and it is powerful enough for a common driver and no longer a lazy snail.

The chasis of the corolla supports 600hp and it has a DELICIOUS suspension, not torsion bar 🤢🤢🤢🤢 which makes it a great platform and way quicker on curves that he looks

Looking at one of these being my next car. Would love an EV but renting so no way to fit a home charger, so thats a no go. Currently driving a 2014 Clio and averaged 67mpg over last 2 years, so whatever I go for has to be higher than that. But there seems to be very little to split these two.
@pillred597410 ай бұрын
Very few cars will average 67mpg so your choice is going to be very limited, the economy is not the b all and end-all I have the Civic and around town it will achieve the figures you want, on the motorway more like 45 to 50 but still pretty good for a car that goes as well as it does.

I had an EV before the Civic hybrid. EVs are pointless. Stick with hybrid

Toyota needs to dump GR and replace them with Yamaha for a higher revving engine with 60% higher power output at 8,600 RPM.

complete illogical choice. Civic is better in every way
@dayoadeosun1520 Жыл бұрын
@@jawwadchaudhry1523 lol, these are my reasons for picking the Corolla. Firstly, I cannot comment on Honda, as I haven't driven one before. Secondly, from this review, the Corolla is cheaper. Thirdly, daily I drive about 50 miles on a return trip. The 2.0L Corolla HEV icon/design would meet my daily driving needs, of better mpg/safety/reliability, on mixed A & B roads.
