Welding up the rear leaf spring hangers. These leaf springs are from a late 80's to mid 90's 2WD F150 and hangers are from Ruffstuff Specialties.
Build list with parts and tools can be seen here: docs.google.com/document/d/1r...

I'm doing this same mod. I see you have 4 leafs plus the very short add-a-leaf and the overload leaf.. so 6 total (or 5/1 as it's technically called). Did you originally get these as 3/1 or 4/1 and then add in another leaf from something plus the add-a-leaf and are they 2.5" wide or 3"? I see a lot of different sizes and spring capacities available for the F-150s and I'm just trying to nail down the best start point. It seems like the recommend dose is 1980-1996 Ford F150 2WD leaf packs that are 2.5" wide and 4/1 packs. The hardest part so far is the spring capacity ratings as there are ones as low as 1300lbs up to 2400lbs and no data available for the stock Toyota leafs. I can't find what the stock spring rating is anywhere and I've exhaustively searched countless forum threads. Thanks in advance for any info on what exact springs you used!

I'm actually putting f-150 2wheel drive swap this weekend on my 83 yoga. So when I measure it whatever it is I should tack it a 1/2" forward ?? Also I put trail gear 4 " long travel springs and a shackle flip kit in the front about how much lift did you get out of this swap?

Hey Austin, I was researching the Chevy 63" swap and on comments from one of the videos I was watching, someone suggested the F150 spring swap is superior to the 63" swap. I started to look that up which is how I arrived on this video. Do you have an opinion one way or the other? What made you choose this swap over the 63"? My '87 is bone stock right now and the ancient leafs are blown out, so rather than throw OME's or something of the like on it, I'm going to do one of these two swaps, just trying to learn as much as I can to make an educated decision which way to go. Both springs are cheaply available in my local yard so I don't think the cost is a deciding factor. Thanks for your time.

Depends on what your goals is. I have 63s and sure they are soft but they stuck out a mile. I’m thinking about switching to f150s so I don’t have to run a block to match the fronts

@@PoorManGarage you're running a block because they didn't lift your rear enough to match the front?

@@kayak_homie yeah I’m Ruf with 4 wagoneer springs under them and the chevys with 3 leafs gave very little lift so I had to run a 2” block

@Jim did you wind up doing the F-150's and if so which ones did you use as a start point? And it might've been me talking about the 63's elsewhere. I'd done a ton of research on them several years ago and it seemed the main guys who originally used them were mainly the hard core rock crawling guys (with the trucks completely wrapped in roll cages, 40" tires, etc) and then it kind of became a fad for everyone and I found where a lot of people complaining that they were way too long and too flexible. More specifically, I found some newer forum threads where some "good ol boys" were using the F-150' leafs and swore by them as they are only about 6" over stock length. I've since seen many other threads with people using them and haven't found a single complaint yet ... only good things. It seems they are an optimal choice between stock and the overly long 63's and can be found cheap for around $100-$150 depending on capacity ratings. The ones to look for are the mid to late 90's 2WD type, 2.5" wide and 4/1. Spring capacity of ~1500lbs is ideal for both off-roading and if carrying loads.

@@oldowl4290 f150 springs are shorter, they still offer good flex for crawling, but usually you get a little more lift and less axle wrap then the chevy 63s. I've ran both
