Thank you for this video! I have a 2016 Toyota RAV4 XLE, and have had various fuel leak error codes, I've replaced my charcoal canister and fuel leak detection pump on my own and about a year later started getting the codes again and had my car put on a smoke machine where they found a small hole in my fuel tank filler neck and quoted me just a little under $1000 to get it fixed, the catch was that the part was on backorder 6-7 months and that garage told me that in order for them to replace it, I'd have to pay at least half upfront, as well as leave my car with them till the part came in from back order... There was NO WAY I could be without my car for 6-7 months (at the low end)... I just randomly checked to see if the part was in stock on Rockauto and it was, for $106, now with ur video, when it arrives, I feel pretty confident it will be yet another job I will be able to do on my own as the independent widow I have become since losing my husband in 2016. Thank you so much!!

Thank you for the Video. I just very recently came into the possession of a 98 Camry XLE. It's in beautiful condition. But the stabilizer links WERE an issue. And so is the fuel filler neck. This helps explain things easy. I drove a Silverado before and things were different maintaining that one. Lol
@cgmf-d6t3 жыл бұрын
Those swaybar endlinks are a absolute pain in the ass if they are OEM style ones. I was just about to lose my mind when I tried to remove them from the rear. You have to use a allen key. The Aftermarket ones are easier to deal with as they do not need an allen key and require just the wrench and a vise grip at the back to lock it in place.

Hello, I have an old Toyota Corolla and my gas filler neck is leaking. The garage offered me a hefty price to replace it, which I will be unable to afford; so, I want to DIY following your video instructions. My question is at 5:42 in the video when there is a clamp and which holds the pipe in place with the frame. Can you tell me the name of that clamp? Mine is stuck since someone tried to fix it with cold weld for some reason, and I'd like to get that part as well. Thank you in advance.

@@DIYwithMichaelBorders thank you! When I saw this car I thought it will serve me for a few months and I will get something more decent. I'm a new driver so it was good for mistreatment. But I fell in love with it and it turn out to be in amazing condition, only 90k on the clock, close to perfect body, no mechanical issues except for that pipe. It was oxidated to bright pink so it took me a month of hand polishing paintwork, restoring black trims, sanding down wheels and spraying black, getting new badges, detailing inside from a gross disaster to perfectly clean interior. New air filter, new front mesh, sprayed surrounding, sprayed back bumper, cleaned engine bay, new air intake pipe, removed all deep scratches ... All by myself. All totally worth for a car for £200. I love Suzuki, and I'm a big fan of old, boxy, simple cars. No sophisticated electronics, no aerodynamics shapes that reminds me a soap bar not a car. Simple girl.

Good video/tutorial, thank you! Realizing this isn't a studio production, on whatever your next piece can you turn your mic up a tad so I can hear the narrative better? My speakers are turned full up. Last, my fuel filler neck isn't rusting BUT in adding some gas via a small gas can (wasn't sure I'd make it to the station) it seems that something happened to the little "door" that sits just inside the filler area, the metal flap one sees after the gas cap has been removed. I'm not seeing mine anymore and when I got to the service station, the gas would not flow freely into the tank... I had to trickle it in and it must've taken me 4 minutes to add 10 gallons... the pump kept clicking off. Any thoughts on what I've screwed up w/ the gas can nozzle? And does it require an entire filler neck? Thanks!

ps. Should I be concerned if I replace the filler neck when the gas tank is full?? Thanks.
@DIYwithMichaelBorders6 жыл бұрын
Ron Klipstein Thanks for watching Ron. That’s a great question! Due to the location of where the lower end of Filler neck connects to the rubber sub system hose, fuel is going to leak however the rubber hose then feeds upward to connect to actual tank. At that point, if the fuel level is lower than the level of the rubber hose connection point, you shouldn’t have any additional fuel leaking out through rubber hose. It’s always recommend to have as little as possible Fuel in the fuel system for safety purposes. As you know, fuel is extremely flammable & the more fuel you have onboard, the higher the risk. 😲 Let us know if you have any additional questions along the way we are here to help!
