I don't know what the newer one has for an additional 80k, but the older one looks like a bargain. £40k in the UK gets you a new, mid spec, medium size hatchback type vehicle.

A company I used to work for started a White Male Forum. I was voluntold to go to the first meeting at least. It turned out to be an indoctrination group to teach us how to feel better about being passed over for promotion, among other things. The group did not last very long.

I suffered through three out of four "diversity training" classes for a town I worked for. I got thrown out by the lead instructor the last day, even though my bosses knew I did nothing wrong, and a boss told me so as he told me to go home with pay for the scheduled training time. The training caused a huge morale problem with the entire town staff, some employees refused to attend all four sessions and said they'd take a suspension day rather than the propaganda and obviously biased "training", so the contract was cancelled before the training sessions were completed by everyone, and the town issued an apology letter to employees over the whole thing. Lots of time, money, and goodwill wasted there.

@markh.6687 Many such cases. Always refuse DEI training, it's a Maoist style humiliation ritual masquerading as workplace training. Often managers have no idea what it really is, and are taken in by the sales pitch about boosting this and improving that, plus it makes them look good to be doing something that sounds really progressive and socially concious. The whole thing is a racket. One should resist it at all costs, because the objective is to get you to apologise for imagined crimes. Once they get you to apologise for a synthetic wrong, you are now under their control, and you now exist in their synthetic hyper reality. If you don't know what a struggle session is, you just described enduring one.

I remember back when Toyota made dependable well built cars...pre 2010. I got mums late model (1990s) Corolla when she turned her toes up (2005) used it to go to work Monday to Friday then Friday night drove home to my place in country S.A. Up at 2 am Mondays to get back to work. The damn thing never missed a beat! Apart from tyres, a couple of batteries and regular servicing it was a great little car. I wonder how many of the 2025+ models will last 320k?

I have a friend who bought a new Celica in 1973 and still has it. It went much further than that and is still pristine; no accidents or breakdowns of any sort. He did respray it the same colour, and it is headed to be a collectors' item, plus the value should be really going up by now. Boy, does it look great among modern cars.

To answer your question, none. Planned obsolescence and bean counters have been working decades to reduce the longevity of vehicles. I bet they would have expiration dates built into the software if they could. If the warranty is 60k miles it would brick itself at 60,001 so you have to buy another. Toyota already does that with their starters. They count every time it cycles and a dash display will tell you to replace it even though it still functions perfectly.

The NZ govt stated the off loading of fuel will be easier as it's a lighter diesel. The navy was to buy brand new but the refit of the 2 frigates blew the budget so they bought 2nd hand for NZD100 mill then spent NZD47 mill on the refit. It's hard to find info but I'm pretty sure they converted the engines to take biodiesel, which with diesel bugs, impurities and the importance of mixes and additives over complicates the whole process. Especially when modern marine engines use centrifugal devices to clean impurities from normal diesel. This explains the govt calling it a lighter diesel. Guaranteed marine experts would've pointed out the over complexities of biodiesel engines but at the time the patients were running the asylum and virtue signalling was of the utmost importance. The fact that the capt was a box ticker over merit and ability there is no doubt as the then govt allowed NZ to send a biological man to the olympics, as a woman. The shame still burns! The commander of the NZ navy has already stated that parts of the inquiry when finished will be made public, but other findings due to corporate sensitivity will not. Lastly as any superstitious mariner worth their salt will tell you, never whistle on board or you'll whistle up the wind, and never ever get the devil to bless your ship
