I just watched the begining. Did you mispronounce Hiace and call it Hiachi? Or was I hearing things?
@RicardoBorgo815 жыл бұрын
If you watched only the beginning of the video and you are judging my pronunciation it's because you are not interested on the video content mate! Here is my question for you: Do you speak another language? If not, please try it for a couple of years, probably you will change the way you think about accent and pronunciation. Cheers
@classicscustomsandhotrodso6005 жыл бұрын
Ricardo Borgo 81 I speak a little Spanish. I have heard English speakers make this mistake as well . A name is a name. Wether I was speaking English or Spanish, your name is still Ricardo. I don’t change it to Richard. AND,, I am interested because I own a 96 Hiace Commuter. Great reliable transport. More reliable and cheaper to repair than the euro vans we are flooded with.
@RicardoBorgo815 жыл бұрын
@@classicscustomsandhotrodso600 , probably you are right, but due this car is a Japanese car, I have no idea what is the correct pronunciation for Hiace, perhaps we can call to Toyota in Japan and ask them to speak it to us. Cheers mate =D
@classicscustomsandhotrodso6005 жыл бұрын
Ricardo Borgo 81 That is why I don’t understand why nobody here said anything. I saw a Canadian guy do the same thing and everyone soon came back and told him. Even native English speakers living in Japan. It seems they don’t get them in North America. It’s just a pity Toyota don’t build a bigger van like those big Euro vans but with Toyota reliability. A van to stay away from is those Renault things. Worst vans ever built.

Hi, nice build, but I am VERY confused. How do you get into your engine area? I have a toyota Hiace 2015, that I plan to convert into a van camper in 2 to 4 yars. Looking at Hiace builds on KZbin, but most of you guys seem to build something directly behind the front seats. In my Hiace (and all the Hiaces that I've seen) you have to lift driver (front left) and middle seat area. When you lift it it actually rolls back, basically if you get into the engine same way i do, your kitchen countertop wouldn't allow me to roll back my seats. Are you able to get into your engine compartment without any issues? Could you post a picture?
@RicardoBorgo815 жыл бұрын
Hi Cancun, Yes, you are right but I leave space enough for the seats to lift. And if necessary to remove the engine it's just remove the bolts that hold the furniture on the ground and it will be possible. Cheers mate :-)

How do you get to the engine now that the cabinet is behind the seats?
@RicardoBorgo813 жыл бұрын
Hi Saartjie. I leave space enough to open the front seats and have access to the engine. I can also remove the furniture if I need, it's hold to the ground with 6 bolts. Cheers mate

Thank for sharing. I am from Auckland and always wanting to do something like you did but I have been holding onto it till now because sometime New Zealand authorities are too ridiculously strict. What are the process to get Wof after your modifications? Do you need to provide lots of certifications such as electrical certificate? Thanks

Hi Aung, you don't need electrical certificate but you will need to go for the inspection to get the self contained license. Just check it on Google, it's very simple. Cheers ✌ 😁

Hi. Great video. I recognized Toyota Hiace Welcab. My Hiace is on the way from Japan (I live in UK). Could you please tell me how difficult was to remove seats and wheelchair lift? And what is that cap in the floor? You've left square cutout to have access to it. Thanks
@RicardoBorgo814 жыл бұрын
Hi Cezary, I bought my Hiace without the seats and wheelchair lift so I don't know how difficult is to remove it, I think it's all bolted to the chassis, it's not difficult to remove it. The square in the floor is to access the Fuel Pump, so if you need to replace do not need to remove all the floor, and don't forget to leave access to the space tire as well. You can download some photos from the link on the video description, I hope that help you. Cheers mate

Hi Vivien, a Hiace camper for 3 with a 3rd seat it's beyond our creative capability. Perhaps you can buy a Hiace minibus so you will have extra internal space for the 3rd seat. Sorry but I can't help this time. Cheers.
