It’s good to finally see someone doing a review on an sr or a mid spec Ute. Every review is top spec sr5 or equivalent in other brands & they seem to be aimed at caravanning… I had my mind set on a cab chassis sr 4x4 & drove one at the dealership yesterday & found it to be pretty underwhelming. Quoted $58,500 with some added options with 6-8 month wait. Steering wheel feels rubbish in the sr, feels 3D printed or like it’s made of pvc lol. Also found the same thing with the centre console that it felt very cheap, hard, flimsy & basically crap. The seats were okay, but with no backrest winder and just click on seating notches it was hard to get it relined into the right position, seemed either too far back or too upright, this was much better in the sr5 with leather and electric seat! I was quoted $45,000 for the Triton with the same options, personally I think close to 60k for this is well over priced. Still would consider buying because of resale. But I think the dmax is probably a better option, in equivalent model, seats were better steering wheel although plastic was softer but centre console was just as bad… anyway cheers for the review 👍

Very expensive for what it is. I would not get hung up on it only being 4x2. I question how many 4x4 Hilux actually get 4-wheel drive engaged, let alone low range
@padmister1233 жыл бұрын
The thing is these 4x2 hi-rider variants are only a bit less expensive but depreciate very rapidly. Long term you're better off paying just a few grand more and getting the 4x4 version. When you go to sell it you could have 10k+ in your hand that you wouldn't have if you went for the hi-rider. Really if 4x4 isn't a priority you're better off getting the normal 4x2 versions that are a lot less expensive.

Just picked up my 21 SR 4x4 cab chassis extra cab with a Toyota aluminium tray on it. Bolted my tool boxes on and put my tools in. The springs are now inverted, with only 45mm gap between the bump rubbers and the chassis. WTF. I haven't loaded it yet. So I did some weighing and found that including the tray, tool boxes, and tools I have 340 KGs on the ute. In theory I could put another 660 KGs on it. Ha Ha Ha. I Don't Think So, it would be on the bump rubbers way before then. This is supposed to be the 'work' version Hilux not the show pony SR5. Very disappointed.
