Take my money! Now! This is the best city commuter I have ever seen. If they made it about 15% longer to make it more comfortable for a passenger and maybe 15 miles faster and a bit more range and it would be a great commuter for almost anywhere. Maybe make the back seat so it can fold down for extra cargo for shopping. How does it handle at higher speeds? I have heard that can be a problem for rear wheel steering vehicles. This could be the vehicle that saves Toyota from their disastrous doubling down on hybrids and hydrogen.

Loved this at first sight. If it were in production at a sane price, then despite the limited range I'd buy one. (give it a 40-50 Mile range and the potential user base would be greatly expanded, 30 miles is just okay.) Alas like most of these things it will never enter production. I just hope the Seat Minimo makes it into production next year as promised or I'll have to buy a Citroen Ami. The Ami is boring and has few of the points that make me want an I-Road but at least it IS IN PRODUCTION, a rare thing. Thank you for the video.

I would say it might be tight for you at 6'3" I am 5'9" and have a lot of room still above me. It is however, low so that might also be difficult for a taller person. Yes, it is a little loud in at higher speeds inside the cabin. Their is zero noise reduction or damping to make it quieter but it is an acceptable level.

They could be on to a winner!Fun commuting for everyone!in my opinion to succeed with this idea they need to: 1. Have 4 wheels instead of three, and add abs, anti-slip traction control for wet roads. 2. Driving position needs to be more lying down in order to take that high roof line down and it will give better stability as bonus. 3. Needs to be a 2 seater minimum, becaue scooters, bikes are 2 seaters. 4. Top speed need to go up from 45,60 km/h to atleast 110km/h. With sexy EV standout acceleration. 5. Range minimum 150km wltp. 6. Price maximum 15-20.000 dollar/euro. I will book 2, and park them on my 1 car parking spot. thank you very much. 😎
@sanddrifterjb2 жыл бұрын
It has ABS / Traction control already. It also does have 2 seats in tandem. What it needed was AC, more power and better visibility. I do have to say that besides driving the LFA, it's my second choice to drive since it was so different in every way! Super fun concept!
@itihasbond16222 жыл бұрын
@@sanddrifterjb super. Just a few things to add then. Yes that visibility seems awful. To be global success it needs that capability of wet and snow conditions and 1 rear wheel can be problematic. Even putting a frugal 125-300cc single cylinder scooter engine option would not be bad too realising asian markets and not to worry about the battery(keep costs low)

Don't see the use case, though they've gotten this far in development, they think so. It's competing with motorcycles and bicycles in large cities. It has elemental protection and some security, but I doubt they can compete on cost.
@sanddrifterjb4 жыл бұрын
Smashed Hulk agree. I think with my time around it for so long, there are some ideal markets for it but not as many as initially thought. It makes perfect sense in places like Paris or Italy but Arizona where I live? Not unless I put a golf bag on the back. I can see maybe mounting up a surf rack for some. The best part about it is how it drives. Lots of fun 🤘
@dogfacedponysoldier874 жыл бұрын

I 100% agree but after testing in multiple cities some years ago, Toyota USA had to consider laws that were in place. They also needed to decide if it would go under the motorcycle laws or automobile category. In the end, I think Toyota was on board but the markets, for instance, New York was not ideal for them.

@@sanddrifterjb I'm surprised no one has built something like a Yamaha Tricity or Piaggio MP3 scooter with a lightweight, aerodynamic, removable weather enclosure (aluminum frame with tough plastic panels) It would be much more practical than a Toyota I-road, since it could travel at hwy speeds like motorcycle, with long range and be used in rain, cold weather.The 3 wheel reversed trike design is much safer to ride on wet roads than a 2 wheel scooter. Only problem I can think of is if strong side winds could blow it off the road but think it could be made rounded to minimize the problem and be safer to ride than a motorcycle in high winds.

JOE BACAL Hey Joe. I’ve never ridden that specific bike, but those bikes are definitely highly regarded, can’t go wrong with anything they make. Actually these days nobody makes a bad bike. Alloy bikes are great, but the carbon versions are a little lighter and sometimes a little stiffer, but a sizable jump in cost. If you will apply your attention to detail to MTB that you do to cars, those subtleties may be worth the extra cost, especially if you ride a lot near the limits.

Not practical unless you're in a downtown area and then if you want to cross the road over 35 mile an hour speed limit you can't.. The I Road Will be classified as a motorcycle. @@sanddrifterjb Maybe the sole reason they haven't started mass production yet is that they are afraid of the consenquences: If there would be such a high demand for it, that would kill a lot of their own cars they make in that price category: market cannibalism, it can go either way: very good or very bad. Carver Earth is available now for 12000 USD but it looks hideous compared to this. I must add, both are pretty weak in max speed and distance, so there's room for improvement.
