Toyota Land Cruiser (2023) Crash Test

/ @youcartv The new 2022-2023 Toyota LandCruiser 300 series has today been awarded a 5 star safety rating from ANCAP, Australasia’s independent voice on vehicle safety. The first vehicle to hold a 2022 datestamp, the Toyota LandCruiser performed well across all areas of assessment.
The Toyota LandCruiser received the second highest score to date for Vulnerable Road User protection under ANCAP’s 2020 - 2022 protocols, with a score of 81%. The LandCruiser is able to avoid collisions with pedestrians when turning across their path, and showed good performance in all forward pedestrian autonomous emergency braking (AEB) tests, with collisions avoided or mitigated across all scenarios.
“The protection the Toyota LandCruiser offers to vulnerable road users, including pedestrians and cyclists, is impressive for a large SUV,” said ANCAP Chief Executive Officer, Carla Hoorweg.
The Toyota LandCruiser scored well in the assessment area of Adult Occupant Protection with a score of 89%, although the LandCruiser did present a higher risk to occupants of an oncoming vehicle and the full penalty for vehicle compatibility was applied.
The Toyota LandCruiser is fitted with dual frontal, side chest-protecting and side head-protecting airbags, as well as driver and passenger knee airbags, as standard. While the LandCruiser is not fitted with a centre airbag, prevention of excursion (movement towards the other side of the vehicle) in the far side impact tests was assessed as good, and full points were awarded.
The Toyota LandCruiser also scored full points for protection offered to child occupants in the MPDB and side impact tests, with a score of 88% in this assessment area. However, top tether anchorages are not available in the third row and installation of child restraints is not recommended in these seats.
In the assessment area of Safety Assist, the Toyota LandCruiser performed well with a score of 77%. The LandCruiser is fitted with an AEB - Car-to-Car system, which avoided or mitigated collisions in most test scenarios, and a lane support system (LSS).
The 5 star safety rating applies to all variants of the Toyota LandCruiser, except the GR Sport, which was not assessed.

Im surprised how it's similar to older one which existed from 2008 to 2021 yet they couldn't make a fully different redesign and there is ugly samsung tab screen and the suv is ugly as land cruiser fan boi this really disturbs me compared jeep grand wagoneer, Lincoln navigator they are so much better in looks

@@hypr7370 well i actually both of them but new lc costs 100k$ in a top spec. You can actually buy an escalade or a jeep grand wagoneer (when it can comes out) for 110k$ (also in top spec). my dad also had a patrol y61 5 years ago so im more familiar to the patrol

I still find it annoying that the score of crash preventing systems are interlaced with actual crash test, there should be 2 separate scores so we get a better idea how good each aspect of the car is

As a 300 owner I am surprised to see the car avoid hitting a cyclist. In real world driving it is just the opposite. If a cyclist is riding on the left side of the road and you move out right to go around him the LTA (Lane Tracking Assist) senses you moving towards the centre line and dramatically pulls you left back in towards the cyclist than around him/her...bloody dangerous and horrible safety tech that needs a lot of updates.

Not a Fan of new LC300 due to GVM and Toyota media hype towing/tourer label. Prado has better payload capacity. But thumbs up on the crash testing, must be one of the safest vehicles in heavy crash. Hopefully this will be same for future Toyota designs, can’t wait for new Prado and Hilux next generation. Like to know how the Next Ranger/Everest stacks up.
