SUVs are always better off-road machines than any pickup trucks due to better weight distribution and shorter length, factory built speaking. And....... the Land Cruiser is one of the highest rated off-road vehicles out there.

It's fascinating how Americans have no idea about the world that exists outside of America, and are always amazed when seeing something different. Pretty strange for a country that actually invented internet.
@sik59rt9 жыл бұрын
You're basing this off of one person's experience?
@dimekoza9 жыл бұрын
sik59rt Actually no, I had the privilege of meeting a lot of Americans, which are amazing people in every respect, but most of them had literary no idea, so to speak, about the rest of the world. And when you combine stuff you see on tv and internet, you can come to the conclusion that vast majority (of course not all of the Americans), but way more that 50% have no idea about the rest of the world (figuratively speaking).
@jamesblyth95329 жыл бұрын
dimekoza The internet as we know it was invented by Tim Berners-Lee, an Englishman, working from CERN.
@dimekoza9 жыл бұрын
Dude, the US Government invented the internet, look it up, and that's not the point of my comment.
@jamesblyth95329 жыл бұрын
dimekoza I know it wasn't, my bad, but the US government did not invent the internet. Yes they contributed a great deal to networking, but without Tim B-L we would not have HTML, URL, HTTP and we would likely have to pay royalty fees for the right to use it. This contribution outweighs that of the US government, hence why he is widely accepted as the inventor of the internet as we know it. That said, your statement on Americans is (generally speaking of course) correct, only 46% of US citizens have a passport and only 3.5% travel abroad.

Toyota4Life It's pretty simple to understand...a 6 thousand pound 7 seat SUV is aimed at mom's driving around kids. It may have been capable in levelish sand, but that was not it's main purpose, it's main purpose is being a mom car....a Jeep wrangler on the other hand is never going to be confused as a mommy suv
@drivebigmuscle80809 жыл бұрын
Hector Ayala That's exactly right. Here in the States Land Cruisers are more apt to be seen in mall parking lots and in front of a Starbucks - not off road.
@TheWatzitooya9 жыл бұрын
Toyota4Life You'd be much more likely to see a Ford F150 or a Chevy Silverado or a Jeep Wrangler going off road in the U.S. The Land Cruiser in the U.S. is typically bought by the same sort of people who buy Siennas. They're essentially minivans here.
@Daniel-dg3np9 жыл бұрын
Hector Ayala What can I say other than Toyota makes both SUV and 4WD. The Toyota Landcruiser is aimed at 4WD people, not SUV. Outside of the USA the Landcruiser/Prado and Patrol are considered a better choice for off-road than Jeep. Also the Discovery is considered highly. Look at news reels and vids from Africa, Asia, Middle East, Australia, NZ, Pacific Islands and you'll see how common these vehicles are in remote areas.
@waffles8249 жыл бұрын
***** Old Landcruisers yes, not new. Jeep wasn't for sale in those regions....just recently started selling jeeps in Australia, and they are already taking over. New landcruisers are not primarily made for off road use....no 7 seat suv is primarily designed for offroad use, you can argue that til you are blue in the face. new landcruisers are not the old landcruisers used in Africa...those are the ones you see in news reels as you say, not the mom suv's they sell today

Excellent video. I also love to explore the UAE dunes in a Land Cruiser; Ahmed is a very capable driver. Just wanted to note one area of correction. The UR3 5.7 pumps out more torque than the 1UR over the complete torque band. In fact; the UR3 is almost like a diesel, it pumps 90% of all its torque already at 2200rpm. The 4.6 is way less powerful, but what Toyota has done for the Middle East to offset that, is to reduce the gear ratio: running the 4.6 t a higher rpm vs the 5.7. Excellent engine, the 4.6.... but the 5.7 is really more powerful at every rpm (torque and BHP). From a drivers view, this has also been my personal experience while owning both the 4.6 and now 5.7.

And talking about other cars, land rover, mercedes g and a lot more, but toyota is the king. Jeep is great but is under those three. I am sorry but it is like that. I am talking about stock cars more or less. The mercedes is not the king because of its price, range rover is amazing but too fancy and heavy, defender is great but need an upgrade from land rover. And that's it. Patrol, Pajero, jeep (jeep the last of this), are great, but toyota... the best. that is a fact. I don't know what that guy is smoking if he thinks the 4.6 has more torque than the 5.7. The 5.7 has more of everything from lower down, dude is full of shit.
@G55STEYR9 жыл бұрын
Harry Henderson I noticed that too. Maybe he read the torque of the 5.7 in pounds.feet then for the 4.6 in Newton,meter there's a 1,355 ratio Nm being the higher value
@SereneSpeed9 жыл бұрын
Harry Henderson Haha I scanned the comments to find this sentiment. I thought the same thing. I wonder if it's a deal with possibly the 5.7 having bigger cams (higher power band), more weight, and/or taller gearing (less torque multiplication)?

I've never heard the term "rifling" when talking about dampers
@sik59rt9 жыл бұрын
i dont see how rifling the inside of the shock body would accomplish that. if anything, everything would blow past the glide ring of the piston making damping almost non existent
@jakefields13379 жыл бұрын
***** I considered that he was saying "bored out" but since in motor terms it's pretty much specific american slang, that countries version is rifled or as he used it grammatically, rifling. It makes sense since you are cutting a spiral out of a round steel cylinder/rod to make a rifled weapon barrel as well.
@WeDaBestFilms9 жыл бұрын
These aren't just normal dampers.. A lot more things are involved in those shocks

Maybe Toyota should make a Landcruiser TRD PRO.
@JohnSmith-jb8rb9 жыл бұрын
+Bobby0345 That thing would corner a huge market if they aren't an insane price.
@Bobbybeb9 жыл бұрын
Well based on their new line of trd pro series, the trd pro models seems to add at most $15,000 to the price tag. So it would probably sit around $100,000.
@JohnSmith-jb8rb9 жыл бұрын
+Bobby0345 Yeah..you would get a few buyers, but it would have to take a drastic price cut to feed the demand of a middle class..or they could maybe cut corners and make a smaller version with a wide wheel base for half the cost. That would be a giant market.
@JohnSmith-jb8rb9 жыл бұрын
+Bobby0345 I suppose that would be the 4runner right?
@Bobbybeb9 жыл бұрын
Haha yeah. Basically for dropping the luxury and some off road tech, you could have a 4runner TRD pro for half the cost.

I realy hate new-gen Cruisers, I ride a 60 series Land Cruiser in Sahara (hj61 4000 direct injection turbo!) But, the 200 look unstoppable even in automatic and electronic, this is the best stock vehicule I have ever see in sand dune! Not stronger like previous gen (40-60-70-80 series) but very capable to go fast on the track or dune! Power + crawl control are efficient... It's a hard reality but I open my eyes!

Mommy SUV 😂😂😂 I drove an old one from AbuDhabi to Muscat (600km) without a drop of oil. Had to stop twice for it to cool down though. My uncle's 2008 model brand new LC went 90,000 km without even an oil change.
