The legendary Toyota LandCruiser 70 Series commercial vehicle range has chalked up 70 years of service and, to celebrate, Toyota Australia has released 600 examples of a limited 70th Anniversary edition.
Of the 200 special 79 Series single-cab utes imported to Australia, only a handful remain - despite the huge $80K-plus price tag, the same basic design dating back to 1984 and a major 70 Series upgrade coming in 2022.
We sent Sam Charlwood to see if the steak matches the sizzle surrounding the enduring Japanese workhorse.

very good. But i do.nt like the frog eye type ventilators in the dashboard . And the rear weals running narrower than the front is unacceptable for me.

could do with another cog on the manual. I gather it's very possibly not too long before it's likely to be replaced. A heavily revised variant?? A totally new vehicle utilising the new 6 pot oiler from the LC 300?? Think Toyota should be able to Start giving some clues by now!

Finance companies love seeing the young lads come in to finance over 7 years.. paying $300 a week on a 79 Westpac loan calculator says $80,000 at 7 years =$297 per week At Westpacs 6.49%pa that's a grand total of $116,424 That's before you even think about putting a bullbar on it.. Young bloke would be better off buying a dirty old Hilux and putting that hard earned cash into a home.. Sad to see that the STATUS of owning a 79 is causing young people to go bankrupt in 2 years, what's even worse is that the people selling these no full well it will break these people, but hey it's a sale who gives a shit

@@cloudysky9991 you should've saved yourself some money and brought a Y61 Nissan Patrol ute there already more capable offroad in stock form than a lifted 79 on 35s lol and with the money you "could" have saved buying y61 Patrol you could make it even more capable offroad and still have enough money left over to buy years worth of fuel 😆😄😂🤣
