I owned a 95 MR2 Turbo for a decade. To me, that is a MR2. The frameless glass on the door, the vent behind the driver, glass roof, front wheel to hood height, extra large dimension in the back. It's very similar in design, just new for next generation of cars. One thing I would appreciate they do is add a usable trunk for two weekend bags. This was extremely nice to have in mine.

I had a 1991 MR2 turbo for quite a while, and I ended up making the biggest correlated mistake that I’ve ever made and I sold it for 350 Z in 2003 😢. If this is in fact, an MR2 then this would be a true successor to the second GEN because the third GEN MRS was horrible and there’s no way that that true successor. I love the exterior but how do you feel about the interior?

Mr2 without a doubt for me. Lotus Emira was also my very first impression. Also, John over at Driven said he spoke with Lotus PR and was told there will be a less expensive version of the Emira to follow, and now I am thinking Toyotus. Maybe, 300hp+ dual motor 500+ mile solid state eMR2?

I would absolutely love an ICE or hybrid system in this with a manual transmission! I totally understand that electric is faster but there is absolutely no emotion and it just goes fast but doesn’t sell it in any other way and that’s why I currently own a GR Corolla CE 😊.
@ag4allgood Жыл бұрын
Agree , many of todays sports cars are trying to get rid of the manual transmission. Porsche tried doing it & they had to bring it back after 6 months. Acura got rid of the manual transmission for around 5 years then brought it back with the new Integra. Sports car manufacturers finding out enthusiasts want a manual transmission ! BTW I drive a 2016 Mazda MX-5 Club soft top with a 6 speed manual.

There is one detail we don't talk about regarding these EVs. I hate the idea of blinkers buttons on the steering wheel! But the fact Toyota decided to put one on each side of the yoke makes waaaaay more sense thanks to the steer-by-wire technology! Reaching those buttons will not be a struggle. Really, pause the image at 5:40 and enjoy the position of each physical button and see how ergonomy is still important for legacy manufacturers! I'm sorry, but they are not paying to catch up! They are just cooking really good stuff! And it requires time! And from what I see, we won't be disappointed!

Constructive criticism alert : Is it because of the background noise that your audio is clipping because in both your videos and Kirks, the audio is clipping, but in one of the last videos it wasn’t. I was in the eye. Enjoy the info and chemistry you both have. With that new 32 bit float help in this type of situation… I think it’s the RODE likes that have that now…that being said, I know that’s a lot of money to spend when the rest of your videos are perfectly fine when they are in your normal environment.

That's cool! Does the commonality of the following features, which are characteristics of the i8's aerodynamic design, indicate that Cole's experience and knowledge are being utilized in the current aerodynamic design philosophy? ・The use of aerodynamic devices on the front bumper and rear diffuser to reduce aerodynamic drag. ・The use of "active aero" to control the flow of air around the front and rear of the body.

My rule of thumb is- if a car is on display at a show or on line has no mirrors or the super thin side mirrors, then odds are it’s a concept. That said the interior screens and this body seems too exotic for production. But geez, if this gets built and less then $50K, then I would buy one.

Very nice. I hope Toyota offers this in an EV variant. I had to bring my Toyota Highlander for its first repair service yesterday. I am out $455. I am so tired of the costs of repair and maintenance of a combustion engine. I do have a 2023 Camry. I only bought it as an interim until the redesign Tesla Y or 3 is releaded. Anyone I know who owns a Tesla swears by the lack of maintenance it requires - the frequent wear and tear of tires is the one complaint. I will only listen to Tesla owners to get their review and not by those who will review the car that don't actually own a Tesla. What will sell me my next car is the lack of maintenance it will require. I hate having to go to he dealership to get my cars fixed, because I don't trust indeprendent mechanics.

Great review Davis/Kirk, if Toyota could bring this to market as a dual platform for ICE and EV to would appeal to both markets/buyers and would payoff in spades for them and the owners that order them, with composite materials it will stay lighter and have no rusting issues like conventional steel body cars do, Toyotas design studios are over flowing with talent 👍

@GT-RTData9 Жыл бұрын
I’d get where the Supra ideas keep coming from. This has mid engine proportions so it makes more sense for it to be an MR2. This looks nothing like a Supra and doesn’t have any of its classic GT proportions. People complain enough about the MK5 not following the MKIV design, this would be an absolute drastic design change from that.
