Should have filled the oil filter......since it's vertical it will not spill,and is a good practise.

Thanks Adrian, thats some awesome feedback! Mr2 Owners, please check your oil levels frequently. These 1ZZ motors can sometimes consume oil, so periodic top ups may be required

For anyone reading this today, you should NOT prefill oil filters, the hole in the middle is where the oil exits the filter, prefilling them can lead to contaminants getting into the system. There is nothing to gain from prefilling the filter.

Thanks for showing how easy the process is. This is a great first vehicle for learning basic automotive maintenance. Also, those metal ramps you sometimes see for gardening equipment are (at least the ones I own) rated for 1,500lbs a piece. I happened to have two laying around and knew off hand the weight of the MR-S/ Spyder was about 2,200lbs. Instead of using a jack or stands, I just backed up on to the ramps and chalked the front wheels. I can complete an oil change on my ride in about 15 minutes if I check over myself a couple times (and don't have someone standing over my shoulder).

Nice video, thanks for posting. Two suggestions though: 1) get some rubber gloves, and 2) most people should measure out the amount of oil b4 pouring it into the car. If you accidentally pour in too much, you have to redo the draining process. But otherwise, great video! I would recommend it.

My MR2 came with two under trays. Are mine UKDM only, or do you just leave them off?

Sadly allot of cars in the second hand market over here in Australia seem to have their under trays removed for what ever reason (Sometimes they get damaged or people are too lazy to put them back on). They are however pretty impotent on MR2's as they can contribute to down force... They stop lift, and drag out the hot air in a controlled manor... The way Toyota intended. (:

Adding to this, I saw you used 5W40 and had saw recommendations to use this in other places. I'm in Florida, warm climate, and while my 2005 is almost 20 years old, only has 53k miles. For performance, is it recommended to go to 5W40 for thicker oil, or stick to 5W30 for now?
