Thanks for the explanation on the light function. You wouldn't believe how hard it is to find info on which lights are parking lights and which are urn signals on any particular older vehicle, much less this one. A good hack would be to convert the parking lights into combination turn signals/parking lights for extra illumination. That integrated turn signal lens in the headlight cluster isn't optimal because it will get "drowned out" from the white light from the main beams. It's perfect because it's located on the front corner.

had the same problem with my turn signals on my Camry when I had all the exterior lights converted to LED'S. Had them installed at a local shop in town. they added a 1ohm resister so to slow down the rate of the signal so that there not flashing so fast that they look like there on steady when being used. There's a relay mod you can do that fixes hyper flashing. You carefully open up the relay and cut a resistor. I did it to my '86 with no problem.

Your turn signal sensing circuit thinks your bulb is blown because you left your ground open on your turn signal harness when you tapped into it. Just ground that wire and it’ll fix the fast blinker.

Hi! Nice video! I have a question. Do you know if the "conversion" harness is necessary for a hiace van? Can't find information about it. I've read this harness is required 'cause Yotas turn from hi to low beam using groud instead of positives, but i don't know if this is exclusive for hiluxs or for all 80's - 90's Toyota. Greetings!

I think it would be, as many Toyotas from this era use similar wiring for the headlights. Worst case scenario, You'll know for sure if you need it after installing the headlights.

Why not just rewire the front running lights into turn signals? (as far as turn signals go). There is a cheaper version of the LED headlight without intergrated turn signals... Would be more noticeable as well... just curious

You could rewire them if you wanted. Never having DRL, you'll need to wire them manually. You could tap into the fusebox on a circuit that powers up only while the ignition is on, or just run a positive from battery or other constant source with an inline switch (just don't forget to turn them off when you park the truck.)

I could have spliced it in but didn’t want to cut factory wiring since I was going to give these lights away to a subscriber. They’re ideal for aftermarket bumpers without any blinker lights built in.

Quick question, so I plugged in everything like you did on your video but when I do, none of the corner lights work. When I leave the new lights plugged in and I plug in an old headlight on the old socket (driver side) all of the corner lights work, including the new ones. Any idea why that might happen? @@6thGearGarage I think it has because on the fuse box inside the cab by the clutch pedal has some funky wiring coming out of the fuse box. Does that mean I need to replace the whole factory wiring harness for the headlights? Thanks again for replying. They still use the 5x7 until 1992 I believe. from 92+, these won't work. You'll have to find that exact shape in an aftermarket headlight.

I'm confused why you added an additional relay harness. For HID lights it was necessary because they often pulled more wattage than the halogen bulbs they replaced, but in the world of LED replacements, they pull waaaaay less energy than halogen lights, so I don't understand why the factory wiring would not be sufficient. I'm not trying to be rude or question your excellent work, but I'd like to know what I'm maybe missing.

It's a Toyota thing only because of the way they run power to the factory lights. You wouldn't need the additional harness for other makes.

I did an H4 housing conversion to my 96 miata and my 93 Toyota pickup! And fit with LED bulbs, no relays harness needed in my case, I just use a ceramic H4 plug pigtail adapter, as a precautionary measure but provably not needed it, They both worked great had them on for years now 😅 Hella H4 conversion have bee around for decades and give you excellent beam pattern and have the option to use any type spec H4 bulb you want

Does the connection have to be on the passenger side? I did the 3.4 swap and the battery is now on the driver side. I can just run a longer wire or can I tap into the driver's side plug?

Yeah, I don't see why it wouldn't work flipped to the driver side where your battery now sits. Should still work fine. Just double check that the grounds are all clean & good.

I absolutely love sealed beam technology, if only because it allows for seamless upgrading to LEDs. I have an econoline work van I plugged ebay led headlights in and they work like a charm, and I have an econoline conversion van that unfortunately uses the alternate reflector headlight. I am going to 'downgrade' to sealed beams just to get a set of led headlights, and these look very nice for a reasonable amount - the ebay ones cost me 60 dollars versus this one's 80 dollars.

@@6thGearGarage The sealed beams on the Ford van were just as miserable as the Toyota ones, I have photographic proof. The composite headlights on the conversion van, by comparison, are police spotlights, but they don't hold a candle to the led sealed beam replacements. 😄

I bought a set off of eBay, anybody have any issues with these not fitting inside the stock buckets? Mine still stick out quite a ways without me trimming the housing for them to fit. The backs are more square instead of the more cone shape of the factory ones.

I put it with the grill removal time lapse because I has just explained how the grill clips work beforehand. I felt the time lapse wasn't very important.

I have this same setup but the only lights that work are the turn signals which I wired as you did. The fuses look good, would it be the headlight relay that went bad? I mean if the turn signals work, why wouldn’t the low/high beams work as well? Could it be the factory harness is bad?

I've heard of the factory harness wires going bad because they get crunchy after decades of use. The turn signals are separate and much less power, so they don't seem to have issues. Can you hear the relay clicking on/off?

A digitalflasher Will work. Thats the solutions for fast flashing. Also called LED flasher. IT Will work for all the Turn sigma light.
