Just wanted to thank Eric for posting this video. The brake splash shields on my 2010 Prius had rusted through and with nearly 200,000 miles on the vehicle I wasn't going to go through the hassle of removing junky bearings to put them back on after slipping new shields behinds them. Have to destroy the old bearings to get them off a vehicle this old anyway. I replaced all four shields and wheel bearings in June of 2019 and felt the difference immediately... "huh. I guess that's why there was that slight rumbling while going around that highway turn each day." I had the service manual handy with diagrams and torques but being able to watch this video in advance and see what forces were involved helped immensely. I didn't have a "big nasty" but did have a heavy hammer, large cold chisel, and slide hammer. My neighbors "loved" me, lol. Ended up doing some additional self-repair in the months that followed, including replacement of the CV axles (right side was rattling), complete set of new front suspension components including the dreaded suspension arms (sawzall, torch, and rotary tool with cutting disks are friends), thorough cleaning of the exhaust gas recirculation loop (including clean out of the system's mini radiator), and rejuvenation of the high voltage traction battery. The vehicle wasn't worth the repair expenses that would have been involved had the dealer done the work, so I took the repairs on as a personal challenge and opportunity to learn. Wouldn't want to do it again but the vehicle is still running well. Almost to the moon!

You probably already know this, but for the viewers, don’t have the Prius keys in proximity of the car when doing a brake job. The brakes can actuate when the calipers are off and push the piston out of the bore, then it becomes a much more expensive job. Recommend to leave the keys in the house and put a short 2x4 in the caliper to keep the piston in the bore just in case.

A lil' Prius! Ain't she cute? :D I think my Big Nasty is finally all broke in now, after hammering out 21 year old studs off that '96 Tahoe's monstrous cat flange. Got one of 'em out with no heat!! Impressive. I think I need a bigger air hose for her though, as yours seems to hammer a little faster than mine does - could just be me misinterpreting that though. Hard to watch vid on my desktop and run Big Nasty in the garage at the same time. I still have a flip phone ... no internet there! :D Just watched your alternator vid from yesterday - reminded me of the same problems I had yesterday too, but for different reasons. First, after much frustration, my local NAPA helped me out by discovering that the transfer case tail shaft assembly in that Tahoe was off a TH400!! Didn't even think that was possible, but there it was - '96 Tahoe seal was WAY too small! The TH400 seal fit like a glove. Go figure! Then had to do the shift shaft seal. GM and their plastic neutral safety switch right on the side of the tranny - DUMB! Thing shattered as I tried to get the damn plugs out of it - they GLUED them in! WTF!! But, had to destroy it anyway to get it off the shift shaft. Fun fun!

Then get some 80 grit emery paper one inch wide roll and unroll double the diameter of hub area and folding it in half insert it in groove of the shaft and go at it. If you live in an area with road salt...you might find this job impossible as completed in this video. My bearing hub could not be removed with a 22-ton press from behind the knuckle! It required heating the nuckle and a heavy equipment puller plus a 1000lb impact on the puller. It basically exploded on release, sending parts flying 20 feet. That was after soaking in penetrating oil for a night. So... your mileage may vary with air impact tools. I tried to do it with an impact hammer and a 4 lb sledge, and it would have taken a year.
