Oh my gosh, watched this video, and a couple others for comparison, and believe me...DO IT YOURSELF!!! Had to get it done today as this weekend in Denver doesn't get above 5degrees. It is SO easy. I decided to time it. 14 minutes from the time I stepped in the garage, got my 10mm socket wrench, moved our stuff and everything to get to the battery, switched it out and put everything back in it's place. I removed/replaced in this order, when I got to the battery. Removed hold-down strap, Neg cable, Pos cable, Vent tube, battery. Replaced battery, vent tube, Pos, Neg, Hold-down strap. EVERYthing completed in 14 minutes! Thanks Battery Shop!!!!

Your procedure worked perfectly for my 2013 Prius with a 12v battery bought from Napa auto parts. For any Prius owners out there, my car is 8 years old with about 60,000 miles on it, when the battery failed to start the car after a few minutes with just the radio and daytime running lights on -- for what it's worth. Thanks for the great video, it was so helpful!

Hi - Thanks for watching and sharing your experience! This auxiliary battery is very important because it powers the computers that open the output stage relays in the HV battery so that motor/generator 1 (MG1) can start the engine.

Thanks for the very detailed video. Bought new battery online. Any other car I've changed a battery for has always been under the hood, but in reality this battery in the trunk is easier to access than I expected. The clear visuals you provide clear up any questions. My 2011 Prius is up and running again.

Just so I know, Its not necessary to pull the pink plug on the cell batteries before removing the 12v. Correct?
@TheBatteryShop3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. Because we have no control over the condition of the vehicle in question we recommend that you follow the vehicle manufacturer's step-by-step instructions found in the vehicle's owner's manual or service/repair manual. We did not have to remove the HV Battery's service disconnect during the battery replacement in our video.

I went on vacation for 16 days, came back, and couldn't start my 2011 Prius. Found other videos on how to power up the back trunk and jump start the battery. it works for a few times, but now jumpstart is not working anymore. I have been looking for battery replacement, but it is very rare to find any shop carrying it in stock. Found only a few brands and price seems to be around $250 to $300. Planning to buy it from O'Reilly since it is only the auto-shop that's carrying and near-by. However, the mechanic is suggesting that "Do not install it yourself. Have it professionally install." I told him that i have replaced many of my own cars' battery before. Why is this one is different? It looks slightly different (with the sensor and the vent tube). He claims that "the Hybridge has a high voltage and can kill you if you don't know what you are doing and there is special instructions." I also saw online sites that have a label, claiming the same. I went to a mechanic shop near-by to get a quote, and it costs around $75 to $100 to install. From your video, I don't see anything that is very out of norm for changing the car battery. What should I be concerned? I am thinking of handling the positive connection very carefully and wrap it around a tick protective plastic bag or box to prevent it from loosing and touching the body of the car. What's your thought? Thank you so much for the great / clear video.
@TheBatteryShop2 жыл бұрын
Hi - Thanks for watching! We recommend that you follow the vehicle manufacturer's step-by-step instructions, found in a service/repair manual for the vehicle, like we did when we replaced the battery in the video. The vehicle dealership and local auto parts stores usually have the battery you need.
