Wonderful video. Thank you for explaining this clearly. I'm just flabergasted at the fact that these "features" are set to default as "on". I'm not going to ask why, but I wish Toyota would rethink its concept of convenient features and let the customer decide which ones he or she wants to turn on rather than forcing the customer to have to search for how to turn off something that we never asked for in the first place.
@TrainerSteveClifford4 ай бұрын
@@randallcotten5069 this is a feature that a large group of manufacturers agreed to voluntarily adopt in hopes of staving off a federal mandate. The federal government has been making noises about mandating this for a while and the voluntary efforts have worked so far.

I bought my 6th brand new Sienna this fall. The first hybrid version I bought was the 2022, the traded up to the 23, 24, and now the 2025 XLE. I use this van to do rideshare and was always so pleased with it until this happened. I picked up some people who were headed to the airport. I always make sure that they are buckled up in the backseats. Then I put the van in drive and start rolling, and then the seatbelt warning bell starts sounding. I ask to make sure everyone's belt is buckled into the correct receptacle, and they are. So I took in to my dealer, talked to my service advisor, and she had a tech look at it. He told her that this year, Toyota changed the rearseat warning system. Now, you must shut off the car, totally, wait for a passenger or psssengers to buckle up, and then restart the vehicle. I was appalled and was speechless and in disbelief at hearing this!!! I kept thinking that this can't be true. Everytime you drop off a passenger, and pick up a new one, you have to shut off the car, and then restart it after everyone is buckled in??? WTF could Toyota be thinking. What about women or men doing a carpool? And my service advisor told me that there is no way to disable this function. Please tell me she is mistaken!! Has anyone else noticed this problem???

I'm going to give you an answer that is NOT endorsed by Toyota nor by my employer. I have used a product called Carista and there is a setting to disable the seatbelt warnings for all rows. I think it's a great feature, but I think it needs to be tweaked. I have no kids, never put anything in the backseat, except the snow brush, on the floor. It should be tied to some kind of weight being in the back seat instead of the door. I go to the car, start it, then get out to brush off the snow and put the brush back when done. My question about this is: After it beeps at me, is my car still looked or do I need to lock it again?

I'll tell ya' , EVERY TIME I step out of my vehicle this friggin' thing goes 'beep-beep-beep-beep'. The most annoying SHT, especially if you leave for work very early or arrive home very late. AGAIN, these people are such GENIUSES and yet possess very little common sense. There are ABSOLUTELY NO audible alerts on the dashboard WARNING LIGHTS. Wouldn't THAT make so much more sense to implement??? If your oil is LOW, engine temperature is BEGINNING to go up OR air is being lost in a tire and you simply don't notice it visually, you still have the redundancy of an AUDIBLE alert that would be absolutely life saving for YOU and the VEHICLE. So AGAIN, these people are so BRILLIANT and yet at the same time, so DUMB.
