the theory is good but whether it is practicable is a question. High mile range and fast charging means the battery needs to store huge amount of energy no matter what form of battery you use, and fast charging means putting in huge amount of energy into the battery , then you would need a super super and super charger with very large charging current, whether this kind of charger can be built in every gas station in a city is questionable.
@johnchristmas7522 Жыл бұрын
Chargers that are private, have to be 7metres(23FEET) from a building, a insurers notice(UK). That sounds like EV's are a huge fire risk. Ask a fireman what the requirements are for an EV accident. Ing the UK they have to form a no go area of about 50ft

The solid state battery promised by Toyota is still just a Lithium battery with a solid electrolyte, instead of a liquid one. That makes it less of a fire hazard, and apparently facilitates faster charging and improved longevity, but it is and remains a Lithium battery with all of the negative environmental effects that the previous Lithium batteries had, and have. The “Eureka!” calls in my view are inappropriate and disproportionate: the solid state is just a potential improvement of an existing technology. In order to make e-mobility financially accessible and acceptable to the average citizen, we need a truly groundbreaking technology that is both better and cheaper than the present Lithium-based technologies. This fact is demonstrated by the fact that most EVs today are leased by companies rather than bought by private individuals. What about Mr Citizen who can barely afford to buy a car for e.g. €20k, but is being asked to pay €40k to €60k for an EV with a low range, a sparse and expensive charging network, and the difficulty of re-selling it. As a former EV owner, I speak from experience.

The new technology will take the Camry about 600 miles for the highest model and cost $55,000 in the highest trim. And there will be a Prius style that is a 700 mile version with charging capable of doing 90 percent of it's charge within a mere 40 minutes and that will cost under $50,000. There will be two ev trucks and two different power options and supposedly they will offer two different ranges for each of those two trucks and the two power ranges. So here goes. Tundra EV 800 mile range 550 mile range Tacoma EV. 700 mile range 500 mile range 2wd or 4wd both optional and both optional dual motor or single motor but the power output isn't that clear and is suspected to have the equivalent of 300hp and 440hp and a mode that makes 550hp in a higher package that is only on a certain Tundra . As far as the basic tacoma the distance will be 500 miles and 300hp and that will be a single motor design. The batteries are solid state and the towing is only 5,000 pounds and the payload around 900. But the larger tacoma is 8,000 pounds and 2000 pounds. The tundra will be around 8,000 pound towing and 3000 payload and the bigger one at 13,000 towing and 4,500 payload with an optional package that has airride in the rear to raise and lower the load and apparently manipulate the way the wright is handled. These are leaks from what I have heard from two people in the business but the models will not be available until 2025 or 2026 latest. Sad. Japan will get the first of the technology and they are getting some new microcars that apparently get up to 870 miles to one tank and from what they say there is room to expand the technology and range but they are not really working on it to the extent they were when they designed these but they are still always working on research and development and improvements. They will be focusing on trying to make lighter vehicles that are still just as durable and crash resistant while using newer technology that consists of some other materials that are extremely hard for anyone to build with let alone in a mass produced way but it is apparently the next big things and between these two they will be doubling the range of the car and then making it lighter at the same time which is what is going to make the range as good as the numbers they are predicting. But you also must understand they are estimates and yes the technology usually is off and estimates are generous usually so it may be that we get a 600 mile range Prius with 180 horsepower and a 600 mile range Tundra and Tacoma with 280hp and 350hp by the time things are done but I am sure the trucks will have some options to put them into sport mode and increase the power temporarily and in short bursts and the other components won't protest too much from the small anf shirt boosts of performance. I am curious to see them though. A Corolla with 550 mile range and an 80 percent charge in 25-30 minutes and costing under $43,000 is right up my alley brother. I will trade in my 40mpg Corolla IM and buy one new and in cash the same way I bought this car in 2017. It is the best car on the road for gas mileage and reliability and being compact yet useful with the hat hack and ability to still go to home Depot and get wood trim, bags of mulch 10 at a time, tow a small 4x8 trailer and so lawn work and haul junk to the scrapyard and generally use it for work as I own beach property I rent out through Airbnb year round and I am constantly fixing things up and picking up furniture and lumber and everything to maintain 50 year old beach properties that have been in the heat and weather and windy sandy environment. It is a godsend to have a car like this. If a Prius could haul a small trailer and 1,000 pounds extra I would have gotten it but this was the smallest and best mpg car and most reliable car you could buy at the time that will haul a trailer safely and the weight I needed and get 40mpg and 35mpg when fully loaded at 1009pounda plus the 240 pound trailer and then just me in it. I had a foes ranger that was getting 32mpg when just cruising and 23mpg when I had a trailer on it with 1,000 pounds in the trailer. And that was a 4cylinder and 5 speed ranger in a newer model. Not that new as they stopped making them in 2011/2012. 2011 I think mine was. I am going to get a civic with a turbo soon, another Lexus rx350, and a travel trailer with a bathroom in it but the smaller ones at like 17feet or so with just a small kitchen, bed up top, bathroom and shower, desk in the corner for my office, bed in the back but very small in a twin plus size, and then a couch with a TV and storage for tools in the side compartments and a generator caged in with metal on the back and a place to put a small scooter on the back of I need to with a welded hitch mounted type steel hauler for dirtbikes and scooters that you see SUVs with sometimes. I am just going to rig mine up. It's going to be a white trash ten years of riding around and working and living out of my RV setup and I am going to travel and do lawn work and odd-jobs for people like painting rooms and trim, decking, repairs on most anything on homes, small additions like decks and pergolas, flooring like LVP and small tile jobs and some small wood jobs that don't need large sanding equipment I don't have any don't want to rent.... Mostly just painting and landscaping because that is what I am going to load my trailers storage with is painting supplies and basic tools like a mechanical tool set and jacks and jack stands and power tool set and batteries for it and impact gun and impact wrench, a few drivers, pliers, and hammers and all that stuff but not too much. Yup that's me plan bud.
