As much as I love the UZ and UR V8s, I can’t knock the new Twin Turbo 6 like so many people do. The whole wastegate issue I feel was turned into a big doom and gloom scare piece about turbos. I guess it’s different through the eyes of a car enthusiast though 🤷🏻♀️
@holnugget Жыл бұрын
@@SarahnTuned every car manufacturer seems to be going to turbos. You can’t get away from them. The upside is gas savings and peppiness…the downside is the maintenance cost if that turbo breaks or leaks or needs replacement.

The probable reason you won't find too much "off-road goodies" in the new Sequoia is the room Toyota is letting for the slighly smaller and narrower 3-row US-spec Land Cruiser, made from the next gen Land Cruiser Prado / Lexus GX. In those Toyota and Lexus are expected to put plenty of "off-road goodies" including higher ground clearance, longer suspension travel and a beefier shock system. The engine combo may actually be the same Hybrid Max (PHEV) as this Sequoia. The next 4Runner would be then a lower 2-row BOF SUV based on this same chassis family, but with the T-2.4L I4 instead of a V6.

This is a really nice rendition, but I don't think I would ditch my 2020 for one of these. I really can't get over the cargo space in the new hybrids. My 3rd row folds flat and its a ton of very useful and valuable space. And to be honest, I've seen 18mpg (calculated) on trips in it. It's not much worse than that even for daily driving. I don't see how current sequoia owners would benefit from a 23, but just my $0.02

I am glad Toyota found a new supplier for the turbo wastegate. I hear replacing the turbo involves removing the body off the frame. Does the Sequoia have the same wind noise issues as the Tundra? It almost looks like the Tundra window moves in its rack, so it is more than a seal issue. BTW, I am a Toyota-owner, so don’t take my comments as just a “hater”. When Toyota gets it all right I may go Sequoia next time, currently in a 2007 Tundra.
