Today I will be sharing and demonstrating the features offered by the Toyota smart key. Please note that some of the functions on the key fob may vary depending on your Toyota model.
In this video, I will teach you how to lock/unlock your vehicle using the door handle, how to remote start your vehicle (if remote start is equipped on your model and trim line), how to change the battery in your fob, and more!

Hey Bronwyn- Brilliant, straightforward tutorial- Thanks soo much for this! Just got a new LC First Edition and during the hour-long tutorial I was given at the dealer, this wasn't spelled out that well. I'm not dissin the guy- there's just a whole lot of stuff to know lol. Anyway, I've heard that there's a button sequence code to power the fob down, to save battery power and as an added security measure. Is this true?

How to You lock the door with the handle when my key is in the purse? It works sometimes But not 100% of the time.

This feature is a configuration that is not readily available on all vehicles, you would have to speak to your local Toyota dealership and speak to the service department to confirm if this can be set up on your vehicle.

@@stephendaramola4476 It takes the shop just a few moments to program the car. I've had it done with two highlanders and my brand new Prius. When I asked the dealer why Toyota just doesn't do this at the factory, they said it might cause too much confusion with owners. (I think that was a ridiculous answer)

Hi Phen! This absolutely will work on Hybrid vehicles! These features are applicable on almost all Toyota models equipped with the smart key (push start) system. Thanks for the question :)

Does higlandar hybrid 2023 limited has engine start by key?

As far as we are aware, all 2023 Highlander hybrid trim levels sold in Ontario, Canada come standard with Smart Key w/Push Button Start.

Hmm. Well our 2009 Highlander Limited USED to work like that. Also would not let you manually lock doors WITHOUT fob present. (Never liked that feature.) Recently the door lock sensor is about 50/50 whether it senses you (fob) at the driver or passenger doors. Today my wife unlocked the driver door with the fob, put the fob in her purse and set the purse on the floor under the steering wheel. She went to the gas pump to fill the tank and when she got back to the driver door the car was locked and wouldn't open/unlock. This happened once before, before the fob batteries were replaced. Fob batteries are now only a couple weeks old-replaced because the sensor didn't seem to detect the fob[s] when at either front door, and the previous lockout event. New batteries had no effect on that issue. What is the problem?

This is specific to the 2020 models. That's a big difference in years.

Why don't you mention how to disable the fob from emitting the frequency? I just learn that important feature to help prevent stealing the car...

@@claudegiguere8731 Hi Claude. I can appreciate your concern regarding this topic. Clearly you are very passionate about the security of the vehicles, which is understandable. I have to be cautious with how I approach explanations of particular features, as I do not want drivers to perceive that the sleep mode is a 'foolproof' method of preventing the vehicle from being stolen. In other words, I do not want to over-promise the capabilities of a feature. Thank you for your comment.
