It's amazing as I watch these videos...most could have self-recovered if they just invested in a winch. Lots of trees around. Can't afford the winch they want? Any winch is better than yelling for help, and they could upgrade later as budget allows. Matt, you are doing a fabulous job of demonstrating how having the right gear makes all the difference. Nice job! You're providing this service for free, so now they should take the money they saved and buy a winch!

I agree. Even a Badlands wench is better than no wench at all. Let's face it most "off road" trucks are parking lot crawlers for all but 3 or 4 weekends a year.

And no front recovery hooks either. My pickup is 2wd and I don’t take it off road but one of the first things I did to it when I got it was add front recovery hooks.

A winch makes it much easier, but most of the time you don't even need to do that if you stop early enough. A simple jack and pack works very well, and if you still need a tow or a winch, you've just reduced a lot of the load from the recovery.

Looks like the driver gave it his all - deep holes under each of the tires. Excellent recovery and I see that you used the 1st place recovery snatch block. 😂

2nd place yes It’s a good combination of weight price and performance I couldn’t justify the the #1 one being $50 more And 7lbs heavier for a 2% increase in performance

Hey Matt, I appreciate your work. I’ve been following your channel and consider you one of the best if not the best in the industry I have a quick question if I use two axle straps on each side, connected to a D ring and then to a winch or a rope would you consider that sufficient enough, axle straps rated at 3,300 pounds each Thanks

Yeah, great recovery! But I mean, no tow points in 4x4 "truck"? C'mon. Rigs are are more and more about marketing. If you drive offroads, not everybody gotta have winch installed, but I think shovel at least is a must have
