I have an ‘04, 3.4 with 275K on it. Always use OEM plugs, wires and fuel/oil filters and she runs like “a Swiss watch”. Keep making basic, no nonsense videos.

Great explanation. Essay to understand. I save $$$ doing this my self. Only added info I would say is do one ignition module, wire, spark plugs x 2 ( both sides) at a time. Don’t just unscrew all your modules, disconnect all your wires, replace all your spark plugs all at once then try and GUESS how it all goes back together. For advanced DIY or mechanics, disregard. For Amateurs, it is best. Just so you don’t get one mixed up. Just my opinion though. I’m an amateur.

I had P0304 misfire. The problem was a cracked air hose that connects to the throttle body. I sealed it with water hose tape and electrical tape. No more misfire and the 5VZ-FE engine purrs like a kitten. I will eventually replace the hose with a genuine Toyota part.

Awesome fix. 3.4l is bulletproof. I have a 03 3.4l tacoma with 190k miles no problems. I always buy toyota parts for maintenance. Thanks for the video

I have owned two of these trucks both all the way to 400,000km double ground spark plugs are the worst plugs to ever use in these trucks I would constantly burn up the Toyota plugs at about 20,000km then I went to NGK iridium plugs and would get 150,000 before they would Evan rough idle. Don’t recommend running them that long however lol. Good video though thanks for reminding me what just happened to my old girl a couple of days ago. Second set of wires for this truck. Really can’t complain 390,000km . Lol. I was supposed to sell this truck last year when I got my new ride but just can’t do it lol.

Correct plugs (Not sure how anyone uses wrong plug.theres a sticker with a picture for gods sake..)found OEM wires for $53 .over $100 at local dealership & everywhere else online so that’s good. Made job so easy. #1 wire on plug side had been burning up it appears & metal piece was still broken of & still on the plug.& corresponding coil round plug in area was dull looking not shiny like other 2 coils..cleaned it up.doesnt sound quite like a misfire .more of a running rough. Did plugs but not wires a month ago .wile I was replacing wires I didn’t even pull the 2 plugs associated with the broken wire ( original .over 180 k before problem began so good wires no doubt)think the plugs could be gunked up,

I have a 2019 Tacoma with this code popping up. Truck runs great then when the throttle is like 80% power will cut and CEL will come on. Once I turn the truck off and back on the CEL goes off.

curious ,I have a p0304 01/03 on my 05 Toyota 4Runner v6 , I have changed my spark plugs (iridium) checked all my coils with coil tester all good, had my entire fuel rail and injectors professionally cleaned with fuel pump relay disconnected.. And still getting misfire code why ?

I got a 1996 tacoma 2.7 won’t crank. I’ve put new timing chain on . New valve job, New Toyota distributor, denso plugs . It fires weak on 2 and 3 cylinder . It keeps a mass air fault p0100 on can’t clear it . It just won’t crank .

Hello there I am trying to find the cause of a missfire but haven't had any luck Recently did the head job replacing almost everything requested by the owner, before the head job it had a missfire on cyl 1 due to an sticking fuel injector ,after tha head job the missfire was jumping from cyl 3and 4 to cyl 1 and 2 I did a valve adjustment and still have a missfire on cyl 4 I have swapped coils and still remains on cyl 4 . Any ideas would be appreciated Thanks in advance

@Don Francisconever came.to my mind about the fuel pump since it never had a problem starting it , it was a turned key all the time But after replacing almost everything decided to check fuel pressure and there was the problem , after replacing fuel.pump problem solved

I just had/ still have this exact to the t, same issue, replaced the same coil, same problem except it did run a better kind of shitty as opposed to compete shit before the replacement. However tomorrow it's time to check the plugs and wires apparently.. man I gonna be pissed at myself if it's this simple after buying a 95dollar limited lifetime replacement coil. Firstly see the vehicle started the stumble all the sudden, I went ahead and wrote down all 8 codes it had stored and then erased. Started up and let it run awhile and ended up with a po304... So I bought the blasted coil.. Installed the coil, drove the vehicle and only difference is it will clear up if it's basically floored and in high rpm which probably means nothing. Anyway return home and check codes to see if anything changed and sure enough not just the 1 po304, but 5 codes total. All 5 are: Po304, po115, po304again?, Po303 and lastly po300! So yeah I'm checking the plugs and wires tomorrow unless anyone knows anything else I can do to help with this matter? Thanks Peter!

You are thorough. I feel much more comfortable with original equipment. I trust Toyota engineers. I did use NKG plugs because I was told they are better than original copper DENSCO plugs. Is that correct? I have read in multiple forums that those coils are very good and one fellow went so far as to say they would outlast three engines. That may or may not be the case. I don’t want to take up too much of your time but could you please tell me where is the best place to buy original equipment. My rear windshield wiper blade needed to be replaced last year and again this year. I found new old stock online. Japanese writing on the wiper blade . That is not as important and a newer design(curved 1 piece bosh style)may Have even been a better choice. I’m not sure where to draw that line so I try to stay original with everything and keep the guesswork out of it. Where are you /your shop located? Tidy.My truck is a nice( 158k ) but somewhat neglected truck . I have noticed that some maintenance has been neglected. Some things have never been performed. I am nearly 100% positive that these are original spark plug wires.I do not want this great engine to die because I do something wrong. Thank you very much for any advice you can give me. So much miss information online and dishonest or misinformed Mechanics (also DIY mechanics that are attempting to be helpful but simply don’t know what they are doing) things can get very confusing very quickly. Right now I NEED real Toyota spark plug wires.Will be using real Toyota fluids just like you advised. But electricity is what I need right now. Help please. I don’t have the print out in front of me and would have to double check it,but if Memory serves me correctly ,my scan indicated a Plenum issue and valves five and two. Does that sound correct?Thank you very much.

Show your viewers how to test for a bad wire. How do we know you just didn’t change parts instead of test? Show the test that confirms bad parts. We want to learn. Show the ohms test per foot of a wire and tell the tolerances. Difference between a technician and a mechanic

@Don Francisco "Aww he was so mean about it! He could be nicer and sweeter about it!" He was objective and to the point about it. He wasnt accusatory or rude about it. He was civil and reasonable. He told him what was, what wasn't, and what he could have done better. That's called *criticism.* Grow up and learn to take it like a man.
