Toyota Tacoma Vibrations Are Driving Me CRAZY?!

My Toyota Tacoma has bad vibration issues! I have fighting issues with my Tacoma vibrating for years now and I have finally got them all fixed! My Tacoma drives like a brand new truck now and I could not be happier!

2011 Tacoma TRD Offroad, 2016 Tacoma TRD offroad, 2013 4Runner Trail, ALL had front steering wheel wobble as soon as I added all terrain/wider tires. The only ones that seemed to have more tolerance built in has been my 99 Lexus LX470 and my 2015 Tundra. They drove me nuts and did all the re balancing/alignment rabbit hole. My 2015 Tundra has an Ironman 4x4 Foam Cell Pro lift, I have the Method 706 wheels and BFG KO2 275/70/18 - zero issues. You also need to look at the wheel offsets/tire size - I really think the Tacomas and 4Runners are more sensitive to these changes.

It happens to us all, going crazy chasing noises and vibrations on a Tacoma. I bought new brake rotors in a panic thinking they were warped, it was just an out of balance tire. I now get them balanced about twice a year. Airing up and down, knocking weights off, dried mud on the wheels and just off roading in general can cause balance issues.

Take it to a reputable off road shop now and have them check the alignment.. If you do any serious off-roading you have to get it re-aligned every now and then. ps. the new Tundra's just got a recall of 96,000 vehicles because of the front bearing engine issues, stick with the 3rd gen for a while, let them work the kinks out of the new gen trucks

Definitely need to do that. I would like to see if I can get some more - caster to get the wheel away from the cab. I saw that, definitely gonna have to wait even longer. Although the recall seems to be just a QC issue. Seems like they are messing up in that department often lately

Sounds like maybe some shops may have failed you with a lack of guidance. Also off-roading can create tire balance and alignment issues.

I am looking to get a Tacoma & love the color of yrs. Yes, any vibration at speed can be an imbalance issue w/a tire or driveshaft, anything that rotates. Most times the fix is simple. So the vibration complaints w/Tacomas are a thing?

Yes it's a pretty common thing. I think they are sensitive

I had a brand new 2003 Tacoma Prerunner (I gave it to my son last year) that had a annoying vibration. I did the typical rotate tires, balance tires and wheels, check tire pressure, etc. I narrowed it down to two tires and wheels so replaced the tires and that didn't help. Next, I replaced the wheels and that didn't help. In frustration, I replaced the two tires with more expensive tires and shazam, it was cured. (OO)

PA sucks to be honest. I go to ANF for Forest service roads and camping. But I go South for real overland style stuff. WV and NC offer some awesome stuff.
