I'm having this same issue on my 2011 Sequoia. Toyota wanted over $800 to replace the climate control panel (the whole panel on the dash). I bought one off a junked Sequoia ($150) and replaced it myself. This repair is rather easy. Unfortunately it did not solve the problem. That took me here and other places to do some research and learn about some of these Servo motors causing the issue. On top of taking 45 seconds or so for the Heat/AC module to come on after starting the vehicle. I realized my Driver's side air mix was not working correctly (no heat on that side!). I removed the Servo motor that operates it and have ordered a replacement from JC Whitney. There's a company named Dorman that makes them. Hopefully that will fix my issue. Thanks Black Moses for taking the time to make this very helpful video. I may need to remove the entire assembly (as you did) and attach my new motor to ensure that all of the gears are clocked correctly. Toyota is of NO HELP with these issues which really bothers me. Thankfully I didn't pay them over $800 to replace the Climate Control. They apparently have no ability to diagnose, just start randomly replacing parts on your dime until they finally get it right!!

Update! Replacing the Driver's Side Air Mix (hot/cold) servo motor fixed the problem!

Exactly my fear, dealership will want to replace this also, what could be stopping air flow to defrost.? I did change the filter above the fan, noticeable rodent activity. I have removed heating bell to floor, used compressed air, small vacuum hose in as far as it would go. nothing. I have exposed what I believe is the gear to the vent doors, (where are those haha) and the white plastic gear won't budge by hand. Help. Cold air is cold, hot air is hot, just 0 to defrost. NO INFO anywhere.

Rick my issue was driver's side air mix, controlled by a servo motor. Defrost is controlled by a similar motor (if not the exact same) that regulates your air flow direction. You'll have to do some digging to see which motor it is on your vehicle. For our 2011 Sequoia it was just above the motor I replaced. Don't try to turn that gear by hand (you could break the gears behind the servo motor. I think you should try to replace that servo motor. It's only 2 screws on my vehicle.

Aftermarket stereo wire was jammed in an exposed gear and this caused the gears to come out of sync and the root of all my problems. I want to thank Black Moses for the video on removing the vent servo assembly. Drilling the hole in the frame to remove it is required and I would have given up without that tip and reference to the Alldata site to get the info on re syncing the gears. My truck has rear vents that were not depicted in the alldata info but with perseverance I was able to get it all back together and lined up.

Do you have a video showing what panel pieces to take off to get to this part on the 2007 Tundra?

Gene Vincent let me know if that works. I've got the same issue thanks man
@genovinchenzo42378 жыл бұрын
+Tony Burris I figured it out-the lower servmotor-bust the front cover off of it and turn the little gears-there's a spindle-the gears will turn and open the door
@TheTonyburris8 жыл бұрын
Gene Vincent did it lock up or getting close? this just started about a week ago on my 2008 sequoia. lol am I going to be without heart and air soon? titans for that fast response
@genovinchenzo42378 жыл бұрын
+Tony Burris there is a little motor-it just is not getting juice-just a bad part. But you can see the two motors-one black box at top on on bottom-the bottom determines hot or cold air-bust the cover off its plastic and then turn the spindle and the gears will turn and change the cold to hot
@genovinchenzo42378 жыл бұрын
+Gene Vincent warm the truck up for a few min to make sure you can verify your getting hot air-but it's easy to bust the cover off-that will fix it until you get it replaced-cost about 800 to get it fixed by Toyota

Thanks for the videos Black Moses. It appears one of the gears attached to the main vent box, not the side case with the servos, is bad. It's broken slightly. The damage is on a gear that is removable by a phillips screw. Are these available for purchase anywhere? I can't seem to find anything online. Thanks

This may be all helpful for those with this issue. However my issue is I have no airflow to defrost, zero. Finding information on simply how to find this part, how to remove it, is almost impossible. I have searched for 3-4 days for this information and this is the basically the only info found about how this part looks when it has defects. How to access, remove, etc. nothing. So afraid to bring this to the dealership, as I'm sure this will be one of many parts necessary to repair my problem, and the bill between 3 to 4 grand. Where is information to locate, access, remove and replace even if a OEM part is being used.??? I sure could use the help. I fear that the dash control, this part, the fan itself, cables, (ARE there any, no info.) and even the AC module from my research, will all be replaced, and I won't see the old, or even the new after it's complete. Help. The well known issue with the air injectors causing the truck to go into limp mode, was done only 1 month after I purchased the truck in june of 2018. A 3 grand repair. Could the dealer not have put something back together, or damaged something relative to this new issue?? The dealer I bought the truck from says so. Of course. I did not check the defrost in June when I purchased. I did check the AC and made sure it was working. Fan is strong, blows heavy out of grill and floor. All other information says that for safety reasons when these parts fail, only the defrost works, makes sense. Driving in NH during the last month has been a problem. Frustrated, HELP. PM me not sure how this works. My working email is rfillion2@hotmail.com. Help Black Moses.
