I have seen so many people review this car and moan its not fast enough or does not handle like a hot hatch and this is the first one I have seen that is actually reviewing the car for what its aimed at. You seem to have realised that its not a sports car but a nippy car for round town that is fun to drive when on the open road. Nice review and nice to see you seem to have grasped the market it is aimed at.

The standard Yaris is plenty quick and handles brilliantly. This version undermines the target market and purpose. This car is about safe easy driving and getting 80mpg. It is loaded with safety kit. It does not need fake badges and sports ride

II think you are pretty much spot on with your report. I have one and would agree with what you have said, although it can be a little too stiff and “crashy” at times for our roads in this country. Having previously owned a GR Yaris, it could easily be considered as a warm version of the GR Yaris and for a lot of people, a more sensible choice. The mpg of the car is quite exceptional, usually 60mpg plus most of the time, even with some brisk driving! It is equally at home on the motorway or city driving. It certainly surprised me.

This GR Sport Yaris reminds me a little of the Yaris T Sport (1.5 vvti) that was on sale during the early and mid 2000’s. It looks a great little car - all the looks, good performance and lots of rely.

For some the GR Yaris is a little wild so maybe a detuned version would sell very well 🤔

Enjoyed the review, but I wonder sometimes when viewing small cars which have sporty looks or aspirations whether comparisons might help. For example its clear that this looks sporty, and you say its not a sports car, just a nippy city car etc. Whilst I completely get that, heres food for thought. A current ND Mazda RF or MX5 1.5 is a sports car in yours and mine and most peoples eyes, whilst this is not and is not considered fast. Yet are you aware that theres only a tiny negligible difference in 0 to 62 between this (9.70) and the Mazda (8.70)Wouldnt something like that be a useful comparison for those who might want it for its sportiness; it gives context. Only a 1 second difference between this and an acknowledged dedicated sports car, CVT / Hybrid notwithstanding.
@PetrolPed3 күн бұрын
Agreed but that is just one metric. Brakes, suspension, geometry, form factor all make the MX5 a sports car. This is ‘nippy’ which relays more to speed 👍
