Toys For Bob Strikes Deal with Microsoft!

EXCLUSIVE sources close to Jez Corden confirm that Toys For Bob have struck a deal with Microsoft/Xbox!
Insiders have revealed that Toys for Bob's corporate culture clashed with Activision's strict mandates, which suggest that this pushed them to become independent with Microsoft's support.
At a recent town hall meeting, panelists were asked about Toys for Bob's independent status. Drawing on past precedents like Twisted Pixel, Microsoft's Matt Booty confirmed an agreement between Xbox and Toys for Bob for their debut independent game. Booty stopped short of describing exactly what game it will be, although he did say something along the lines of, paraphrasing, "it will be similar to games Toys for Bob has made in the past."

I have never felt confident in a Spyro 4, I guess I've always been pessimistic and never trusted any of the previous rumors or supposed hints at a new game. I can honestly say this is the first time I've thought a new Spyro might actually be coming. If they said "keep your horns on" and it's NOT Spyro, then they are just messing with us on purpose lol.

Only thing that gives me hope is that they're now independent. Working on a brand new IP and hoping it sells very well is a risky move. Making a Spyro sequel for Microsoft to publish is easy money to then fund future projects. We shall see. And thank you for not overhyping this out of proportion. I'm excited for the studio just because that talent wont be wasted on helping with Call of Duty.

I completely agree when you said Crash N-Sane and Spyro Reignited were going doing as well as they did from the get go, I never had doubt they would. Plus I think, a 'Spyro 4' would at least be announced sometime this year since it is the Year of the Dragon.

A teaser or announcement would be a great move. But yeah I feel very strongly about the fact that Spyro and Crash were a sure thing for success in the 2010s. It had been so long since a game for each and remasters usually did well in the market.

Remember too that TFB had already been working on something before they went indie, so it would have had to be under the Microsoft umbrella. That plus the "similar to past projects" part I'm thinking it's most likely Spyro 4!

I’m DYING for a new Spyro game, and it being the year of the dragon, i feel the time HAS COME! Come on Toys for Bob, you CAN’T use language like ‘hold your horns’ and not expect us to get EXITED! However, i do feel their NEXT project AFTER a new Spyro should be a Banjo Remaster…that is a fanbase that is TRULY SUFFERING right now, and as a Spyro fan who was in that same boat for many years before the Reignited Trilogy came out, i feel for them. 😢

Thank God that Toys For Bob still exists and I think that going independent is probably one of the best solutions that they did, especially and obviously to prevent of suffering even more layoffs, when I take a look at the gaming-scene. It's very good that they pulled the brakes before something worse could happen. And I'm really happy that Toys for Bob will continue to make more Crash Bandicoot games and Spyro games for us in the future. I don't give a shit if some stupid so-called "fans" / purists hate me for it, but I love how Toys for Bob has brought these series back to life and allowed them to flourish.

Let's hope this new project, which is most likely not based on any Activision IP, doesn't end up like Shenmue 3 or Yooka-Laylee; highly anticipated games that actually work, but poorly delivered to many. And I enjoyed Yooka-Laylee, it's a guilty pleasure of mine. I liked the duo and I wish they had more playable crossover appearances than just Brawlout, Volta-X, and Mighty Fight Federation. Rivals of Aether doesn't count as they were an unofficial mod.

It doesn’t guarantee a new one, but it’s pretty telling that TFB immediately went to Microsoft to get their next game published. They said they’re working on a new game, and Microsoft own Spyro. So the pieces are falling into place imo.

Suit is daper. I think it's clear that Activision really doesn't care about Crash or Spyro, they just care about whatever makes them the most money, and that's COD. Another reason why I think this is because they turned TfB into a COD support studio, and it most likely strained them from working on other projects. I also still haven't forgotten about the Spyro 4 tease in the Crash 4 artbook, so maybe they've worked on it for longer than what we think? But maybe had to stop production because of Covid, and then Activision turning them into a COD studio. I just find it weird that Activision still exists and just hasn't been dissolved by Microsoft, because they own all their IP, so why does Activision still have to be apart of it? Also, I noticed another word that popped out of that article is "glimmer" lol and seen many posts reporting of this, and noticed that Spyro is the first image that you see from them, and I'm starting to think that these reporters know more than what they're telling us. If they're not working on a new Spyro, I'll be suprized, but it would be interesting to see what they can come up with, but to me, it would probably be in their best interests to work on something that is already successful and has potential, especially considering that it's their first game going indie, and since they're indie, they'd have to convince Microsoft to invest in them. To me, a new Spyro game is way over-due. I was also thinking that they celebrated Spyro Reignited being so successful, so there's clearly a market for the series. Surely they would invest some of that money into a new Spyro?

Well honestly I dont think crash and Spyro are coming back anytime soon. Unless it’s microsoft calling the shots. I doubt Activision would want to partner with TFB now that they went indie. Which lets be honest is likley so they wont get fucked over like vicarious visions did. Im pretty sure they didnt even want to make crash team rumble a standalone game thats how that game end up being a rushed trainwreck. Hopefully they buy the crash Spyro ip from Actvision.

Microsoft are calling the shots. Activision have nothing to do with Toys For Bob now, that’s the big news of this. Microsoft own the Crash and Spyro IP, so it’s up to Microsoft, and they struck a direct deal with TFB which is huge.

I hope we don't get Spyro 4. It won't work, especially not from TfB. I don't want them to work on Spyro. I don't want Spyro to be polluted anymore. Reignited is ugly and soulless, and I regret ever being excited for it. I have been playing Spyro for over 20 years, for as long as I can remember really. It's time to let go and just play the originals. It's over. We should stop dragging things out and making Spyro suffer. Whatever Microsoft/Activision and TfB are doing isn't Spyro. It's mockery. These are the same people who took away Spring Savanna, which looked to be a wonderful and powerfully moving tribute, respectful and earnest and right. Things like this, video games series, these can't go on forever, or shouldn't. Let go and just love the originals.

if reignited trilogy ever gets a big control patch so it controls more like the original trilogy or at least more like ratchet and clank instead of monkey fuck, please HMU and i might revisit the reignited trilogy. i stopped playing on the first game because the controls were so unbearable i couldn't even continue to spyro 2 or 3. i also find it questionable that in the remake, the dragons rescued in the first game are still all male/masc when toys for bob had the opportunity to replace a lot of the generic ones with female dragons. the reason the original game didn't have female dragons to rescue was a lack of voice acting, at the time they couldn't get the voice talent. toys for bob does not have this excuse. the first game did not need to stay a sausagefest

@@Thermalfusi0n its just the usual nostolgia goggle arguement. People get real pissy about games remade from the ground up not letting them do their speedrun tricks from the original. Both reiginited and n sane felt fine. Reignited id say felt identical to original. Crash did feel a little different but different isnt bad.

​@slayer4932 I think he doesn't realize that Classic Controls exist as an option. However, in his defense, there are a few issues: 1. You still can't use the D-Pad/+ Control Pad for movement in Classic Controls, unlike the PS1 version. 2. The Right Stick is still enabled, rendering the triggers redundant for camera control. 3. Because you can roll in all 3 games, the shoulder buttons can no longer move the camera like in Spyro 2 or center the camera behind Spyro like in Spyro 3. This means that centering the camera is not possible in Classic Controls.

Just please let it have controls that are good. The Reignited Trilogy does not feel good to play because the controls are so much worse than the original trilogy, especially the flight stages and dropping slightly while gliding. i hate that drop so much, it was just added to create artificial difficulty with glides that were not supposed to be difficult. it's the wrong kind of difficulty. the flight stages almost feel as bad as Superman N64, and i am not exaggerating

i also have a technical issue with the game, i am unable to turn spyro while he is charging or supercharging, making some stages impossible to beat 100%, like high caves where you need to do a u-turn while supercharging to get to the metal spiders. but that's impossible??? spyro doesn't turn while supercharging in this game????

So don’t get me wrong toys for bob did a good job on the remaster but is it to far fetched to think the seniors at insomniac would be completely against making a fourth game I mean if not for the hasting brothers the imagination would have never existed in the way we see it I really think we should just push for that
