As in the counter balancing will pull it to center I imagine you’re saying., idk bcs it was my first TP purchase but customer service was awesome. I had already put in a return for this motor before it arrived bcs I accidentally ordered a 5mm shaft instead of 8mm shaft but I could not help looking at it soon as it came in but I’m glad I did bcs the second motor did not have the binding issue but it wasn’t perfect either so that tells me that TP motors are just like that.

So I’m guessing this will and can only be checked if the rear is vented which everyone is not going to chose

That’s how I was able to see it visually but I first noticed when the motor would get bound up while turning the shaft with a small pinion in my hands. I never had a TP until then so I was being pretty observant.

Thanks., but neither did I. It was my first TP motor so I was scrutinizing it and customer service was bliss.. Fast forward today, it is an amazing motor. Inner tolerances are still super tight. Regardless nobody has ever reported a motor failure due to inner tolerance issues or that we know of. But it’s good to get familiar with your rc cars.

Bud, thanks for sharing this. I had also watched your previous vid on rhe shafts & was glad you shared it regardless of the haters. Bringing attention of "what to look for" when you get a part in to make sure it's 100% good is great knowledge in my opinion & that's why I'm thankful that you took the time to make these vids! 😎 👍

Thank you for the support.. you would think that other larger channels who make a lot more purchases than small channels would encounter quality control defects a lot more often on their channel but you won’t find that because they don’t want negativity on their channel or criticism. Most bigger channels also do a lot of business with retailers and they have a good relationship or a friendship and they handle these matters over the phone with no discrepancies because they work together and there’s no need to put anybody on blast. I definitely didn’t intend to put anybody on blast or make anybody look bad, but at the same time it’s not too unusual to receive something that needs to be returned, and it will frustrate anybody. So the video was an opportunity to be honest with the public. However, I did learn a couple lessons from posting these types of videos… Which is basically waiting to cool down and not create content, while I am upset because it gives the wrong impression and it’s always good to contact the manufacturer or retailer and sort out the problem over the phone at least. That way when you create content you can at least explain what happened and how it’s being taken care of rather than ending the video with only my side of the story. This has helped me build better relationships with retailers so I guess it was a learning experience for all of us.

@@toysforboysrc Thanks, absolutely understandable. & agree. There's always going to be manufacturing errors, it's inevitable. And as long as the company tries to make it right & address the issue quickly, it's all good. Lol, I remember people giving me a hard time with wltoys. They were the first RC cars I owned when I 1st got into the hobby. I gave my honest review & experience & got push back from the wltoys fans. It is what it is, can't make everyone happy lol.

Hi, it’s complicated… I “meant” to order it with an 8mm shaft but accidentally ordered one with a 5mm shaft. When I realized it several hours later I called to modify my order to an 8mm but it had already shipped, so before it arrived we already had the return/exchange lined up before I even made the video. Of course I was eager to see it in person bcs I never owned a TP before. I like to scrutinize things that’s just me, so I could not resist making the video bcs eeeeevery body has a TP but I NEVER heard or seen anyone talk about what I was looking at and it started a storm of ppl worrying😒but half said that it will brake in after a while and to be honest I never seen or heard of a failure from this clearance stuff, but this topic could go on for ever🤷‍♂️.. anyway I continued to proceed with the return and when the identical motor but with the 8mm shaft arrived, it also had a super fine clearance and spun better but at that point I realized that that’s just how TP motors are and I stopped worrying about it so I didn’t mention anything to not sound like a Karen lmao or like the picky guy that I am, but that pays off with clients as I’m a perfectionist. I never ever had any problems with my 4070 2200kv 8mm TP motor, but I truly got worried during that initial first unboxing ever. Tip…. I also noticed that although I bought it from (island hobby 🫶#1) I also did research on the actual TP motor website and I found a section that said if there is a factory defect, it must be sent to TP motors them selves for inspection.. so I was partially worried that I would have to deal with TP instead of Island Nut because TP doesn’t even talk to their customers which is why I went with Island Nut to begin with. I’ve had other customer needs with Island nut concerning more future purchases from them and the owner IZZY is a SUPER awesome guy. So after getting to know the staff, they really treat you good!

Yes I have the 1717/1650 and it’s a Beast! Not many motors can perform well on both 6s and 8s. Most 8s motors run poorly on 6s bcs there’s not enough voltage, but the 1717 runs great on both 6s and 8s. Btw I ordered my TP from Island Hobby Nut and it came within 3 days! Suuuper fast shipping and they have a great staff and support. They even carry Scorched parts too.

@@javieracosta6281 … island hobby does have a U.S. number and email. Their good with the phones but a little slow on email. The actual TP manufacturer shows a number possibly out of state like china idk but that number will ring for ever no one picks up. At that point I didn’t even consider email. If that’s all in China, forget about it.. China doesn’t adhere to U.S. standards and regulations.

EDIT: Update 2-26-23 the item was sent back the following day and down time was about 6 days.. So getting to it.., My overall experience with Island Nut Hobby was great! Things happen fast due to the fact they’re located in N.Y. of USA and that they also have a good sized staff! They have a reliable number you can call and they always answer the phones! If you have a technical question, there are at least two mechanics or techs that I know of who can answer those questions. Glad they stepped up for you. I’ve generally heard good things about their customer service. I ordered some of their carbon fiber GT side plates for my Typhon once and they were drilled backwards. I never contacted them about it though, I just decided to keep them and re-drill the two center holes. Typically the best course of action when a problem arises is respectful contact with the seller.

@@toysforboysrc it's in a dr10, and nobody knows yet, so shhh. I'm running the mmx6 as well, for the amps. On 2s it doesn't get warm quickly, and no hole shot will catch you, but you can run up to 7s, though I'd highly suggest adding half a pound or more upfront of the bumper and beefing up shocks if you want to speed run. Mine was undrivable on 3s. I dropped 20mil weight in the rear diff, now she drives mostly straight. Turn down the gain on your steering for smaller movements, especially with a gyro. And no, it's my first tp, but it def won't be my last.
