I got this router recently and a very odd thing is happening. I have Verizon for my internet at 1gb speed. I was using Linksys EA9500 and when that router had the line coming from Verizon, on the speed test it showed nearing 1gb (roughly 900+ down ) I got the TP Link since some devices I have are Wifi 7 compatible, and the ethernet line going in drops my speed in half to around 450+ down. I was told by Version to restore the router to default, I did, and it did bring back the speed, until sometime went by ( within a few hours or so, I checked the next morning from evening ) and it dropped again to approx 450 mb. ) Super odd and I can't figure out what is going on? Appreciate the review by the way.

Very good review as per usual. I am envious of you. 5 gigabit service. I only have 1.5 gigabit service in my area. I am curious about something. At the 4:08 mark of the video, it appears it is now possible to create a separate 2.4 GHz network for IoT devices. Is that true? Is that a recent development? I switched from TP Link to Asus a little over 2 years ago because I had to use the guest network to isolate my IoT devices on the TP Link mesh system I had at the time. That was annoying AF. $219 is a great price for a WiFi 7 router with so many 2.5 gigabit ports.😊

Thanks! Don't be envious lol, I'm paying a lot of money per month to have 5Gbps service but most months, I don't get to use the full 5Gbps because I'm constantly testing routers that can't go that fast. Yes you can separate the bands now with this Archer and some of the other WiFi 7 Archers as well as make a dedicated IoT WiFi.

How did you test the speed? I had a nighthawk and you vould test your speed within the app but i cant figure how to test the speed inside the tp link app

I do speed tests with the speedtest app on the wifi device (my phones) and I also do local speed tests. The tp-link speed test is only conducting the speed test at the router level, not at the wifi device (phone) level.

I got 2 BE9300 at Walmart on clearance for $136 each. Is having all 2.5g ports on the BE550 a better value or would just having a swich on the single 2.5g be better?
@landpetАй бұрын
That's a crazy good deal, I would get a switch if you need more 2.5Gbps ports personally.

how is the range?

Good, I go over the range numbers in the video, feel free to jump to it

I can see that you’re also using wpa2 security. Your IoTs can’t connect when in wpa3?
@landpetАй бұрын
Yeah, most devices can't support that yet Wpa3 is really only for wifi 6e and wifi 7 devices

You say your internet connection 5GBps !!!! So which router do you use to actually use that fast internet ? Obviously WiFi 7 doesn’t have that so !!!?!?

I typically use the Orbi 970 when I'm not testing, occasionally the BE85 or BE95 as well.

oh yeah thats the exact one its stupidly good and priced well, just i wish it had more antennas cuz with super thicc walls it suffers a bit (depending which one ur using 2.5 5 or 6ghz)
