TP Link / OMADA is a great little product line. I used the router and controller with an AP in my daughters house that works like a champ. They have Apple TV and ALEXA that all works. Bottom line....TP Link is a good product.

Thanks for watching Dennis. I’m going to run the TP-link for a while in my home network replacing the ER-6P for now just to see how it performs over time. I’m hoping to use it with customers eventually in small home networks.

@@QuikTechSolutions Tony, I have my Edge Router 6P working just fine. I am in the process of setting up my Mikrotik 3011 with a Mikrotik Switch in a 10 GB network. Just a little more equipment to get and I am off and running.

My 6P is working flawlessly. The R605 will be replacing it on a temporary basis, just so I can get a feel for how it performs over time. I’m looking to add the Mikrotik 9-port 10GbE switch when I get into my new home.

It doesn't do link aggregation and probably your ISP doesn't provide it either. These multi-wan routers have the option called Load Balancing. In theory it can merge the bandwidth of multiple WAN connections but it's not recommended to set it up that way as many type of services (for safety reason) don't accept multiple simultaneous connections for the same request, so it would fail. However, if you configure Load Balancing enabling Application Optimized Routing it will direct each user to one of the WAN ports. This way you probably can't achieve the total bandwidth of multiple ISPs on one device but still can distribute them between multiple devices.

I just bought one 👍 I have a question, if I connect it to the router provided by the isp, will it connect directly to internet or does it need a setup?

Hi Ahmed, thanks for tuning in and commenting. Depends on your ISP, if the ISP provides a dynamic (DHCP) connection then just plug into the router’s WAN port and you’ll be good to go. It isn't clear how to create multiple LAN subnets each with its own dhcp server. I only saw one place for DHCP. I expected a drop down on the DHCP config where one woud select the subnet. Does this even support routing between different LAN subnets either on the same port (router on a stick) or different ports?

Yes, I was hopeful to do more on this device. However, it wasn’t what I was hoping for. It’s a decent piece of equipment for the price, turns out it’s not a good fit for my needs moving forward.

With the initial firmware it didn't have the multi-net NAT feature in standalone mode but with the latest firmware (v1.1.1) already does have and it works well. There's only one issue, the router doesn't block inter-vlan traffic by default and there isn't any "one tick" option for that. You must create ACL rules in Firewall to block communication between the vlans if you need to.

@@arion_jazz I'm running pfsense and one of the things I like about it is that it blocks traffic unless you allow it. It's much safer to default to restrictive permissions. That wouldn't be good for an "all in one" router/FW/switch/AP home users typically buy, but should be the default for stand alone routers that SMBs and prosumers buy.

I have not experienced this. Probably best to check the TP-Link forums.

It doesn't have any real proper DNS support for the DHCP server or internal LAN. It also has terrible lists in tables in the UI that aren't sortable by columns. No way to watch live sessions from anything on the LAN going anywhere and without proper DNS support, no way to identify systems.
