Not when you go to the insurance company for a new policy. (I agree that the Corvette wins for looks, but I think the Gremlin is cute and likely much more reliable than a seventies-era GM vehicle.)

The Vette is definitely superior but they did say the Gremlin had a V8, which was pretty rare, so it’s still a little cool.

Fast forward to the 1990s as they were one of the three makes (with Corvette being the model for one of them) to be offered through 3 Strikes. The other two makes were Lincolns and Cadillacs. Since March 1992, Bob Barker had stripped down the models towards domestics to show his support to the military as they fought Desert Storm the year before and following the Porsche giveaway to a female contestant whom after investigations, they could not prove that she "cheated" on 3 Strikes (she won the Porsche anyways and that was that).
@JasonRourhier20 күн бұрын
@@meyerj75 I saw the clip of the girl winning the Porsche.I even remember going on 33 years ago in 92 when a young student who went to Pepperdine University and won 2 cars Lincoln Continental & a Chevrolet Corvette--she won $88,865 & at the time was the biggest winner in daytime Price Is Right history.
@mariahendrickson144319 күн бұрын
@meyerj75 How could u cheat on the game of 3 strikes??! I heard one time that the 3 red strikes did have opposed to the chips with numbers which they have a different feel...?? 🤔🤔🤔
@meyerj7518 күн бұрын
@@mariahendrickson1443 The female contestant (whom I don't remember her name so I won't make anything up) had just two chips in the bag: the final digit and the red "x". From what I witnessed, she reaches in pulls it out barely, drops it in, and pulls another one out & it becomes the one needed to win the Porsche. She would end up winning just under $80,000 in the show alone. Following that incident, only 4 digit cars were used for the reminder of the season and for a month or two, all chips were white including the "3 strikes". Again, there was no proof that she did cheat.

Oddly enough the Lord of The Rings book might be worth more than anything else on the showcase if you had it today. Some of those early editions go for stupid amounts of money if they are a first print and in good shape. Corvettes from 1973-1990s really don't go for a ton of money today. They started dropping the HP on the engines around 1972 and they made a ton of them. Granted, a convertible is a rarer find.
