If they would a just left the old doors and windshield shape from the 389 it would look much better.

The 589 is a good-looking modern 2024 truck. I've driven 359, 352,362,377,379. My 359 glider heavy hauling engines with no power steering, spring suspension for 10-12 hrs. (had Popeye arms) driving, those days are over. I remember the nit picking when the 379 came out and I'm sure in 2045 when the 889 comes out they will wish for the 589.

Very nice the future looks bright for the 359 and I love the sleeper on the white truck in the background

Should have driving controlls back in the sleeper then the Codriver can use a in cab intercom and tell the driver ok I’m taking over Charlie

When I was a young teenager back in 1980, a neighbor bought a gorgeous brand new bright white 359 with an extended (58"?) sleeper, 4 air horns and tasteful chrome accents. He SPECIFICALLY had it built with a Cat engine because he hauled minerals out of quarries. I know the 389 is discontinued, but will Peterbilt even build a special order 589 with a Cat engine? Or do they just build them with Cummins engines? I can still remember the unique sound that 359 with the Cat made when my neighbor would drive through the neighborhood.

Hello Rick! Yes sir, we can do painted visors on the 589.

Hey, @ least it doesn't have the paccar engine! Paccar engine's are designed for European cabovers. Cam comes out the back of the engine & the other components are driven from the back of the engine too. I'm not against the performance of the European engine, but it would be nice if it was design modified for conventional trucks in north America. So many like to keep equipment and rebuild it as needed till its not possible. This engine has to be removed from the mounts for some repairs that traditionally would not be nessisary costing time & money.

Can you order it with a built in table instead of the mattress? Use sectional “pillows” instead?

It's been a trend lately not to have roof horns. I know it's harder to clean the roof with horns, but I like round trumpet horns on the roof! Wonder if it's like the lights having to reprogram a computer to activate additional air horns too? I'm not against technology, per say, just unnecessary complications. Old style wiring was so much easier to trouble shoot on the road.

Way to much chrome. Chrome fenders look like shit.
@tquadzilla2 ай бұрын
Hello James. The polished fenders are not my favorite feature on the Legendary Package as they do add additional weight, however I do love the Script Lettering on the side of the hood and throughout the interior as well as the cab and sleeper panels.
@tquadzilla2 ай бұрын
You can always order you new Peterbilt 589 without the Legendary Package which will eliminate all the additional chrome and polished fenders.
