I'm surprised you didn't mention the weird weapon storage Mindwipe has, where his bladed cannon becomes a tail(?). I found that you could smash the peg into the soft plastic of the bat head. This not only made a more cohesive back, but also made it look like the bat had a jetpack

You just brought back memories of when i was first learning to drive and relied on google screaming at me to find any place that i had never gone to, now it'll be stuck with me forever. But yeah Mindwipe I've had for a bit and it's slowly made it's way onto the "wow, I don't like this as much as I used to" list. Brainstorm I have the original Titans Return figure of, and the head is significantly better. When I was looking for the retro headmasters and found Brainstorm I remember seeing it, noticed the head, and felt uncomfortable with how the head looked and wondered why they did that with it.

I do love how you structure your videos by how the figure was packaged first instead of doing what most reviewers where the alway go vehicle first to attempt to do some dumb suspension and surprise, which gets annoying for the more complicated figures

That's not how I do my videos? probably 19 times out of 20 I start in robot mode. Every now and then I do Vehicle mode first, just to do something new. But I start in robot mode because that's the more important mode.

I dread the day I will find him exploded tho. Chromedome is probably my favorite out of the TR/2021 Headmasters though.

A lot of people have shared pictures of their TR Mindwipe's legs/wings having shattered into a hundred pieces pretty much spontaneously over time. A flaw in the material apparently. AFAIK it's still unknown if the G1 style reissues are as susceptible to it as the other releases, but yeah I'm really careful with that one.

I have the original TR Brainstorm that I got at Walgreens when I first started collecting TFs again. He has the faceplate head, which makes him great. I passed on the Walmart Headmasters because I either had the TR molds or heard too many issues about the molds to pay more than TR prices for them. While a lot of people praised the WeirdWolf toy (WireWolf in TR), too many people complained about breakage for me to spend the money on it. And Mindwipe, well you pretty much summed it up.

Actually, Mindwipe's weapon is exactly like a brute commander's weapon in Halo Wars 2: Awakening the Nightmare. Just give those cutscenes a watch since Blurr (animation studio, not the robot) put a lot of effort into it and no one really played the game.

Another friggin' hilarious skit, it reminded me how as a child I've always thought it would've been amusing if more beasformers had interacted with their animal heads in robot mode one way or another. Also, I'm surprised nobody has brought it up by the time I'm writing this comment, but I think Mindstorm's also supposed to have a waist swivel (at least that's how it was on my TR Blurr). I know everybody and their mother knows what this mold is about at this point, but I just couldn't miss out on this chance to do my ACKCHYUALLY impression.

I didn't know about the movie "Yor, The Hunter From The Future" existence till 3 week ago from that KZbinr name Brandon Tenold. The dude did a cool movie review on the 1986 "The Transformers: The Movie" too. Also nice call back here 7:29 from your Siege Shockwave review. -Anyways. Like your review on Mindwipe and Brainstorm from the Retro Headmasters. From the Decepticon side, Mindwipe is my favorite. He just looks cooler out of the three. It took me awhile, but I was able to get both waves of the seven Retro Headmaster figure. Still in their packaging like they were straight out of the factory. It took a lot of thought on whether to get them or not. But after some review on them, I finally decided to add them to my Transformers collection. The main reason why it took so long, is that I'm not really a fan of the Headmaster gimmick. But after some research on the Headmaster history, I slowly came along. -Also cool. You got that little Titans Return Terri-Bull dude. I got him too. Along with Crashdash and Fangry.

BRANDON TENOLD!!! You are a man that has taste I see. I learned about Highway to Hell from Brandon and it's one of my favorite movies now. I've know about Yor for many years now, and it was fun to see him on Brandon's show. I'm glad you liked the callback. Oh man I hate the Head Master gimmick, it is the worst thing about the awesome line. And yeah, I got Terribul for free, because I discovered at a Toys R Us back when those were still in buisness a set of Chaos On Velocitron that had all the figures swapped out, and I pointed it out to the employess who were just going to throw it away, but they let me keep the swapped head masters.

Also, the reason Brainstorm’s head is like that is because the Walmart retro version is based on the Takara version. The regular Hasbro version has a more toy-inspired head.

I would get Brainstorm as he was the only autobot headmaster from the show I’m missing if it wasn’t for that horrible head (good song name). Now I want to quote Thew for a second (it’s about voyagers but I think it still fits) “voyager isn’t a slightly big one anymore it’s a price point.” And I think that’s true size doesn’t matter as much anymore in these figures it’s about quality even if some are small or don’t have as good of quality as others they are still a deluxe/voyager/leader now

Except I completely disagree that the Pipes is up two of the quality of even a legends figure. It can be a deluxe, it's not big enough, or good enough, or has enough accessories, or transforms well enough, or as a good enough altmode. Nothing about it is half as good as it needs to be to justify deluxe.

I agree size no longer matters in the age of transformers we are in they are now all price points. Like Shockwave a leader, cliffjumper and bumblebee a deluxe, Hot Rod a voyager. It's been since Siege I am amazed when ppl still bitch about size class at this point. Even hasbro came out and explained they are going for robot mode scale because its something they never really did before. I honestly appreciate it and enjoy having them in scale. Now to pipes he is the right scale he needs to be, he is a minibot, he is supposed to be small. The characters bland look is technically correct. The transformation being a recolor of huffer is correct. That's who he has always been, he is a cheap and easy character hasbro gets to make out of the huffer mold. At least they did a better remake than combiner wars huffer and pipes which was legends...and shit for the characters, recolor head swaps of a legends optimus prime. I'm not gonna hate on them simply because they get to do a simple remold slight retool for a new character that ppl was wanting. I was way more irritated over combiner wars huffer and pipes and they was cheaper.

I think they gave the retro headmasters the Takara Legends heads because they wanted to give the Hasbro-only audiences something different from what they got in Titans Return. I don't mind the overall sculpt of Brainstorm's face. I just wish they painted his face orange instead of that pale yellow colour. He looks kinda sickly.

So I like mindwipe ok but like the mold alot better on Draculus. I got brainstorm when I saw these at target a little while back and I can say it’s at least more fun than the 86 blurr (I have the shattered glass one but I hear they’re mostly the same). Also, I have the wings one back on their soft ratchet things, gives it a bit of a dynamic look

I find brainstorm to be so dynamic, one of my favorite things to do is pop the headmaster off; fold out the back of the seat, and display him as a mecha with the headmaster sitting in thr chest

Blurr has of the less ugly head, though I know his little forehead crest tends to break off. I'd say go with Blurr, or the original titans return version of Brainstorm. Not the reissue, that way you get the better looking head.

Mindwipe is weird, but it's a figure I have some love for since it's weirdness tempted me to pick it up, which lead to me getting into the g1 stuff such as siege when until then I was just into studio series stuff. Also that bit about his bat head barking orders to his robot mode I find oddly fitting since it's implied that the bat mode i just hypnotizing the headmaster partner the whole time they work together.

Do you have any of the original animated figs, if yes what do you think about them, I personally really love them, yes they were pretty gimmicky and had some pretty egregious parts-forming, but the level of personality they had, especially their headsculpts that is unrivalled by any toyline ever, and they just looked nearly perfect to their on-screen counterparts (tho this wasn't true with every fig) and I personally quite enjoyed the gimmicks, I really wish they returned and I've seen people say prime first edition is sooooo good, but imo animated's toyline was way better than Prime's first edition

So that other accessory Mindwipe comes with can be used as claws you mount on the arm, but Hasbro should have designed it so it could sit flush with the rest of the arm and not jut out awkwardly.

Got 3 siege Refraktors yesterday and I was just so surprised about how small the damn things are. You say that Pipes is a small deluxe and that it isn't worth the price, and I'm here thinking that these Refraktors are some of the cheapest feeling figures I own. The Gen Selects Hubcap figure I got with them feels more substantial than these. All i want is for them to be slightly bigger and a little more dense as they are really light for a deluxe figure. Also the start of this video made me think "I was one of the 12 saying that stuff lol"

Really, I don't really have a problem with the size of Reflector. He's a bigger than the pipes, and I think he feels more dense. Plus he actually comes with accessories worth a damn. And he has more paint. Personally I would never think to compare the two because I see the Reflector as being miles and miles better.

I love having the Headmasters, it's nice to have a complete team. I have RH Brainstorm and Highbrow, and Titans Return Hardhead and Chromedome (my fav character). I low-key customized Chromedome, but I'm still looking for the RH version, since that's the look I prefer.
