We know, we know! You’ve been waiting patiently for our review of the Losi 8IGHT Nitro RTR ⅛ Buggy after watching our unboxing video a little while ago. Since our review, the price has dropped on the buggy which has made it even more appealing so now you’re just waiting on our final word before you grab this as your first nitro ⅛ buggy or you’re just looking for a fun nitro machine with a racing pedigree. The wait is over! Our local track still wasn’t finished, but we decided to pull the trigger on the radio anyway and have fun with whatever sections of the RC track were driveable on and then headed out to a personal motocross track for a bash session. I would be careful as to what you get. There are no tow in/out adjustment. No camber adjustment on front or rear. It sits so low, that if you place your hand under the car, on the ground, the top of your hand is touching the bottom of the car. No adjustment for that. It handles like a dream on the road, but off road & no adjustments, you will time & time again lose control. It's very fast, & great internal braking, but absolute crap on a track with loose substrate & tight turns. Gonna need $2-300 more to get it off road worthy.

Were you running it bone stock on review? I just ordered mine yesterday, and today it was on backorder so I got lucky. I’m excited about the 8ight, it’s my first one. Any tips for break in or tips in general greatly appreciated to get me started with the Nitro RCs. Thank you!

Yes it was stock. Follow the manual for break-in. It may be boring to go through the procedure, but your engine will last longer.

Awesome review and really like the balanced approach with not so good piece. Besides the radio upgrade what would be your second upgrade recommendation? It would be good to understand if it's worth getting it over the kit. Thanks!

Actually we made an error, the radio does have endpoint adjustments. We accidentally missed it when flipping through the manual. The radio however should have been set properly from the factory and it wasn't. That part of the video has now been removed so future viewers are not misinformed. The buggy is perfect for bashing and the occasional run on the track. If you think you're going to be serious about racing, the kit would be a better buy. The aluminum steering horn and aluminum steering servo saver top would be our next upgrades.

@@rcdriver I know I am very very late. But do you know anything about bashing the Kyosho inferno neo 3.0. I want to get into nitro buggy’s but 500 for the Losi is too much for me. The Kyosho is 350 and looks good from other videos. I also can’t drive because of my age so my main option is bashing. The closest track is 45 min.

Jon Cardiasmenos You need nitro fuel 20%-30% And a glow plug igniter . I would also get a heat gun to heat the engine block up and a couple extra glow plugs . Heat the engine block up to 220 F and prime the engine . Should start easily and after heat cycling it leave piston BDC . And always troubleshoot your car if it doesn’t start , too many people quit nitro because they are that damn lazy and ignorant to blame it on the car .

Note to reviewer: One of the reasons people choose a nitro over an electric, is they like the sound of the engine. The awful music tainted this video- it might be a great jam to some people, but not everyone shares the same taste in music, and I think we can agree most watched to hear the car run, not to hear your favorite band from HS.

Yes, but you will have to change the backplate and motor mount

You guys hear the music, but what I saw was a car that was hard to control on loose dirt (& this guy obviously knows how to drive off road buggies). It sat level on the jumps (ideal) but bottomed out every time (problem), which made it break traction on landing (problem). You guys only heard the music? Really? What I also gathered from that, is this "reviewer" (cough) is testing on a track that a majority of city ppl like me will probably never see. He sticks to the section of long track, bcuz, let's be honest, that car has no suspension adjustments, so its fast as hell & can take a bashing, but cannot handle tight corners on loose dirt at high speeds (drifting). That is some important stuff you left out. I'm not saying it's a crap car, not by any means, it's actually quite nice, but as it sits, it's nice for road or carpet. It's great for long runs (country drive), it's not great bcuz you are VERY, VERY LIMITED on sus set up. For $2-300 for adjustable parts, & you will have a wickedly fast, manageable car. W/o those, expect to lose control constantly.

Richard Xiong yo man, richen the high speed needle a quarter turn. That sound is the engine starving for fuel. You may also want a new glow plug as running lean can burn out your plug. Good luck man.

By dual rate did you mean end point adjustment? Is that not adjustable on that radio?

We were adjusting the dual-rate for throw and missed the part of the instructions that walks you through adjusting the individual endpoints, so we did make an error there. However, the endpoints should have come set properly from the factory. We removed the error from the video so future viewers are not misinformed.

SYNDICATE CAT Yes . But you have to maintain the engine temperature above 200 F . Failing to do so can result in engine damage because your piston is not expanding enough . I would invest in a 10$ heat gun and you should have no problems .
