Awesome splitter build and awesome car! Great job guys and I love your vids and projects. Just thought I'd throw this out there for whoever; speeding up air flow under the car doesn't technically create a low pressure area, faster moving air creates high pressure. But obivously a flat undertray is best for air flow and reduces turbulent airflow. The rear diffuser (and the angle of the front splitter) uses the venturi effect. For example, as the gap between the ground and the bottom of the car (diffuser) increases, airflow slows down and creates a lower pressure, sucks the car down. Since I'm kind of on the subject. Common misconception about wings/spoilers. People believe air pushes against the top surface of the wing and that's what creates downforce. What actually happens is due to the cross sectional profile of the aeofoil, airflow moves faster over the top and slower under it. It is the low pressure area under the wing that pulls and creates downforce.

hey guys, the proper grease for the hard top is called shin- etsu grease its sold at most honda dealers. that works best for the hard top. Also considering its a ap1 why havent you guys done a rear bump steer kit? that thing makes it less twitchy,stable during hard turnin and allows the car to rotate MUCH better. Another thing, you should have kept the ride height how it was. that wing is going to give the rear a good amount of squat, not only that it already squats a good amount under acceleration.
@speedacademy9 жыл бұрын

@Emikolaitis9 жыл бұрын
shin etsu grease, very well known fix that's good for the seals. also you need to custom make a 3.5 or r inch intake your current one will actually choke the engine at high rpms. that exhaust and test pipe aren't the best designs especially the cat. get a real 2.75 or 3 inch test pipe and single exhaust to maximize brrathing. then if yiu want to fork out another 2.5k but can do mild engine work get a standalone like aem infinity 6 and look into cnc speed shop f24 stroker kit. uses a modified k24 crank custom rods and acl bearings. after all that you should be able to get 270whp area. and the 2.5k was the aem and stroke kit combined. it's a great deal. s2ki is your friend it's all been done and researched before one of the most comprehensive and analytical members I've ever encountered. and they aren't rude people.
@Emikolaitis9 жыл бұрын
I gave an option didn't tell them what to do. Also they directly said they are enjoying the NA and think they want to stay that way. Lastly any sort of FI ESPECIALLY a turbo creates an extremely high and hard to manage engine coolant and oil temp. Extremely hard to manage. Youll spend over another 5k in trying to keep the engine cool with either of those options. And most superchargers on the s2000 need a lot more love to make over 360hp. And if they can handle mild engine work the total would actually not be 5k. Building your own intake is 200 bucks in supplies. Aem infinity is 1200. The harness is 300. Another 200 for the wifeband. Couple hundred for tuning. And you can get a full exhaust for 800 and 200 bucks for a test pipe. Plus sell the old intake and exhaust and you'll make up the majority of the difference. also the hks supercharger is one of the worst one the market. They don't make massive gains and they are the most expensive. Turbo is going to take an ungodly amount of under hood venting a V mount with as a kit is 3k on it's own and a hell of an oil cooler with ducting. If this wasn't about being a track car I'd say turbo absolutely. But there have been less than a hand full of turbo s2000's that have been able to make it more than a few true hot laps around a track and not start to overheat.
@Emikolaitis9 жыл бұрын
You don't understand the s2000 very well. The formula is not that easy. And again the money is how you spend it. If you can do everything yourself it's more like 3k. If you can't then the cost goes up. Any turbo kit after supporting mods is going to be over 7k with tuning. And again it won't stay cool. Rough estimate to run any forced induction on a track and stay cool is going to be well over 10k. It's not all about numbers its also about efficiency and what you are after to achieve. Naturally aspirated isn't the best for hp, but it is best when it comes to the most hp and still being a good track car for the s2000. Again only speaking about this specific car. A supercharger will cost 5k for the kit alone. That's no engine management no additional upgraded to manage heat but it is at least a lot more manageable than a turbo. A good option but more money. I would never suggest a turbo for the track on this car though. A weekend car going for hp and highway pulls then all day long. The stock engine has been well known to handle over 600whp on e85 for many miles. The trans and diff however not so much. if we go with your simple "5k for 50hp" then all I can say is to some that's worth every penny. This isn't a corvette. The s2000 was extremely well engineered from the factory so extracting any more hp form the NA motor requires a lot of work like I mentioned most full bolt on cars with a standalone and tune make only 15hp more peak. That right there is almost 2k. So an additional 1200 bucks for 50hp is a bargain in that perspective. The gains in the mid range though are great and where you'll see the most benefit when comparing stock and tune
@jdm_jadon9 жыл бұрын

Easier option with the hardtop squeak is to just apply some felt to the black rubber trim on the actual car. Stops the hardtop rubbing on it. Did it to mine and zero squeaks for 3 months now (Y)
@speedacademy9 жыл бұрын
Todd Higgins Oh really! Good to know. That could be a more permanent solution to the lube.
@toddxhiggins9 жыл бұрын
yeah the grease or lube option works but eventually you have to reapply. the felt on the black moulding is a more permanent solution like you said. Theres guys on s2ki who have used the felt method and 2 years later still have no issues. You only have to apply maybe 20cms each side on the moulding (just to the point where the hardtop starts tapering in)

3.2 degrees camber is a bit to much I think that might be part of your problem there. I would recommend getting less rear camber because I am guessing the rear tires just do not have a full contact patch right now.
@speedacademy9 жыл бұрын
18iser We actually disagree, in a corner it'll give us better contact patch and settle the rear end down.
@18iser9 жыл бұрын
There is something called slip angle tough and nobody that does track racing actually has that much rear camber compared to front. And your rear will still gain a lot of camber while squatting down compared to the front. So I would only assume this would make the car feel very unbalanced.
