I was so happy to see the Charade win. Had myself a tuned 135bhp GTti nearly 30 years ago. Ever since I sold it I tried to find another. Impossible now as most rusted away or were thrashed to death. My apologies as I thrashed mine too 🤣

@@hbsupermage not really - CB70 or CB80 engine (catalyst or not, plus octane ecu remap), both being identical size, spec, internals etc. The Gtxx was basically a luxury version but the Gtti could be specced up almost exactly the same. Mine had climate, sunroof, one touch windows - same as Gtxx. Only difference I know is the bodykit, but again, mine had front spoiler/splitter, rear spolier & skirts, so very similar. I think you could get a water cooled or oil cooled turbo but don't quote me on that. Gtti came in more colours too. I have no idea which cooler mine had as I just drove the thing & paid others to look after it 🤣 So, hardly "very" different, but yes, slightly 👍 EDIT:- Oh - and I think the standard alloys were different, but I changed mine immediately to 3-spoke 15" Enzo's from Demon Tweeks - so nice - back then 🤣

The Charade is my Dream Car. I was owner in 1997. God was this Car with little bit more Boost fast. But to find one today, is impossible.

charade gtxx or the gtti whas amazing and still is if you find one. its is the best handling of all these fun cars not fastest but on track it is.

far from the best handling, i have owned the GTTI, swift GTI, and the swift had quite a better handling characteristic, albeit a bit more tail happy and prone to snap oversteer, we had many GTTI here where i live, and there are still on the road around, the swift has pretty much outlived every GTTI already

In europe (excluding UK and very small countries like malta) the only one we had was the suzuki gt-i (and maybe the daihatsu charade). We had some charades in the 80s but not sure about this generation.

Ford Festiva is not a Fiesta. Mechanically it is 100% Mazda 121 (DA). Today its name is Mazda 2/Demio

Honda City = Honda Fit/Jazz. Now gone fully hybrid with no sporty models. Swift still going strong in other markets. Probably looks like it has to go hybrid to meet emissions in europe. Swift Sport is probably the closest in spirit to these cars. Yaris is still very much with us outside of the US - has the sportiest version with GRMN. Nissan used to do the March Nismo. Now only offers a turbo 1.0 Micra

The Polo G40 was called in my country, the coffin on wheels. Torque steer threw people of the road after the curve. Also, the chassis could not handle the power and broke behind the front wheels 😂 Very very badly built car. Dangerous in windy roads.

@@Encryptus1 I drive my g40 nearly every day and I'm addicted to the 86c's for nearly 20 years and own a bunch of them. I never had any problem when driving it, even with about 200hp comming from a 1.4l diesel shortblock with the g60 charger on it. The only weakpoint is the 085 transmission that isn't really up to the torque

Probably trying to decide how to pass and learning their racing lines. Check the lap times at the end, the charade is almost a second quicker. Do not forget that charade also has a turbo. (and is probably lighter) ps. I owned a charade tx (1.3 16v)
