Truly love your channel and content as a VW nerd, but your audio continues to be suboptimal - lots of high frequency “feedback” in this video and muffled sounding voice. Hope you can look into this and get it sorted for future. Keep up the Clubsport content!

This was filmed against the clock and with the weather causing grief at a windy airfield. I used a GoPro Hero 4 (with Wi-Fi off to avoid interference) and Rode Radio mic. There really isn’t a anything to look into unfortunately. Didn’t even use a lapel mic which reduces amount of kit and therefore risk. Maybe a newer GoPro would help but my Hero 5 is unreliable for audio and it’s a big investment to find it’s the same sadly

We need to keep in mind that Andrew is doing this on a budget. Tell your VW nerd friends to like and subscribe (like I did today to a couple who had no idea there was a channel like this) and maybe he'll hit enough subscribers to be able to afford better equipment. I don't live in the UK and I'm never going to modify my VW's (maybe?) but I still watch everything he does because I like his presentation and the stamina it takes to put these videos out. This is a refreshing change from the majority of VW enthusiasts that want to lower/bag/drop the suspensions and then do the darkest tints and wrap the car. I really wish he could do some kind of deal with VW public relations and do a couple reviews of the stuff we can't get in the states. Arteon Estate R for example. Also I don't watch or listen through my phone. I watch through a computer with a decent monitor and a 5.1 system in my garage and I've noticed since he got the new microphone(s) the sound is much better ( I made a comment years ago with the same complaint ). @@volkswizard

Faster, yes, but I’d like to see what your lap in his car would look like - I thought yours was smoother, but then that could be Simons more aggressive style, given power and set up

The 2 different driving styles are interesting. I think Simon's more aggressive style is as you suggest to do with having to fight that car around the track. 400 PS is a lot to content with through the front tyres and the brakes can be stamped on while mine can't.

I've got that Audison sub but just the sub not the full system. Loved saving the boot space but missed the low bass notes of a normal 12 inch traditional box so went back to my alpine type r

A Mk5 R32 is perfect as it is - you can't get much power out of them so brakes/chassis are all up to the job - just need some TLC to keep up together and regular oil changes. Kind of miss their simplicity

Your videos seem to have a high pitch noise on the audio. Was ok when you advertising your car buying scheme. Then the noise started again. Sound on LG TV and Samsung phone. So I do t believe its a device issue. Thanks.

The buzzing was doing my head in - had to pause the video a few times. Switched my audio off and had subtitles on, which helped to some degree.

I too have the do88 intercooler, made in Sweden, installed and it made a huge difference. OEM item gives you one good pull before it’s heat soaked whereas the do88 allows the engine to pull harder for longer. It’s also lighter than 99% of aftermarket intercoolers. Well worth it.

hi , I was wondering if you could help me , my gti dog 2008 drives normal and changes gears as it should however when it comes to a standstill it stalls , the red battery light flashes on the dash and then I will need to restart again but drives fine and idles fine. Have you ever heard of this issue before or know what it might be ? thank you

DSG is very complicated and is now old. Get a fault code scan as could be clutch, mechatronics or gearbox. There are specialists who can help but it’s rarely cheap sadly

@@volkswizard thank you , some mechanics have said it’s the fuel pump that’s at fault , does stalling conditions actually have anything to do with it or is it likely just the gearbox issue . They referred to the HPFP at the front Thank you so much for the reply

Thanks ! They are old cars now so you need to be on your guard, inspection recommended or buy from a reputable dealer with a good warranty. FSH no guarantee of haldex working, coolant not leaking, or clutch not slipping, bent wheels, creaky suspension, dodgy modifications, bad paint. Lots stolen as well so Car Vertical check recommended (and I am not sponsored!).

Both cars do so well on track but if I was riding along I’d have enjoyed your lap more albeit still likely very green at the end - more power plus bigger brakes like you so say on a larger circuit would mean time difference would be bigger but looked like a lot of fun 👏🎯🏎

Would have been good to do a driver swap to get an average between the laps and minimise the driver difference. Not sure with the collectible values of the CSS its something I would personally want to modify to a track car, but I take my hat off to those that do.

TBH with the rain we were lucky to get those laps in. Me & Simon have been on track before and the results are always pretty close hence why I came up with this idea. If the times hadn't been credible then I'd have binned it altogether as the video was filmed backwards i.e. we only did the intro and the tour of Simon's car when we knew the times were close but not too close - we were on the same tyres which is more of a level playing field than a lot of head to head tests!

What looks quicker isn’t always quicker, just a different style. Don’t you think all those mods would equate to at least 4 seconds per lap? So if he drove my stock car where would he be then? Just as fast as he was in the modified car with more power and brakes? Or just 2 seconds slower not 4?

@@volkswizard Morning Mr Wizard and the sun is out. Depends on who is driving, I drove for SAAB, Rover and Peugeot for a while. I'm rusty now and certainly not a big head but I would be quicker than your mate in yours, so would Eric Carlsson and so Would Stig Blomqvist. You both need to drive back others cars and then swap over again. If Stig or Eric was in either car, they would wipe the floor.

Those are from Ecco bought in 2020, should have been retired years ago but I love them. Heel has worn on right shoe from driving but it limps on with super glue 😎
